Whaingaroa last week saw our Facilitate Aotearoa team together for an extended period for the first time. With time to really connect and explore, we came to a realisation that we’re in a time of transition as we look to celebrate our 20th birthday in the coming year. How can we grow the contribution of #ToP in catalysing teams and groups to pursue opportunities, and solve the complex problems facing us? What can be its unique contribution to this country? At this time? ‘What is the ‘tino' of ToP?’ Tuihana asked of us. At the surface level, #ToP is a body of methods and a philosophy that is about unleashing human potential in teams and groups through genuine, authentic and fully inclusive participation. Beneath this is a depth of knowledge and philosophy. What is it, when this is turned around, and explored through the facilitative practices and traditions built over generations in Te Ao Māori? What could be co-created from the similarities, and the differences? Whilst we got some ‘inklings,’ this question remains to be answered: reflecting on it now that a week has passed, revealing that 'tino' as we embark on the next twenty years is fitting. We have a wonderful opportunity, with new people, and new energy, to continue to evolve #ToP as facilitators and trainers passionate about using facilitation to create ‘can do’ in teams and groups. Some acknowledgements for the many gifts shared: Tuihana for testing every possible assumption; Katerina Kupenga for insight and great clarity at important moments; Nicholas Williams for superb facilitative summarising - the right words, at just the right time! Robyn Irving for wisdom and thoughtful reflections; and finally my amazing colleague for the last two decades, Helen Ritchie for her care, compassion and unwavering ability to help us reach a state of ‘completion’ at the close of each kōrero. And none of this possible without the superb manaakitanga, kai and whanaungatanga of Te Mauri Tau. Looking forward very much to 2025 and what we can create together for our trainees and those we facilitate for and with. #ToP methods #facilitative leadership #facilitationskills #learning #professional development #participatory methods

🏃♀️🏃♂️ Collaboration in Motion: Lessons from a Marathon 🏅RBL Bank Apeejay School Of Management VETA Spoken English Academy What’s the secret to finishing a marathon? It's not just strength or endurance—it's collaboration. As I reflect on the latest marathon I participated in, I’m reminded of how much it parallels the workplace. From cheering on fellow runners to sharing water and pacing each other, every step reinforced the power of teamwork. In our professional lives, collaboration works the same way. We all bring different strengths to the table, and by supporting each other, we achieve shared success. A marathon isn't won in isolation—it’s a collective effort. 💡 Key Takeaways: Shared Goals: Everyone is moving towards the finish line; the same goes for organizational objectives. Encouragement: A kind word or a helping hand can fuel someone’s journey. Pacing: Collaborators help set the tempo and sustain momentum. Whether on the track or in the office, I’m inspired to keep fostering connections that drive results. If you’re passionate about meaningful teamwork, let’s connect! 🚀 What’s a moment when collaboration pushed you to the finish line?
