Several critical minerals are at the heart of the global clean #energy transition. Be it for renewable energy systems, be it for nuclear power or for batteries, electrolysers and fuel cells, a diverse range of metals, alloys and ceramics will be needed to develop the components and systems of the future energy systems. But the geographical concentration of the resources and technology to isolate them and fabricate them into components are crucial challenges in the face of this challenge. This report from the World Economic Forum highlights some possible paths to overcome these challenges and develop value chains that are secure and sustainable. This issue is really important from the energy security and autonomy point of view and needs to be the base of global cooperation and collaboration, because it is for the common good.

Hydrogen is pivotal to decarbonizing industries including refineries, ammonia production and steel manufacturing, but hydrogen developers can often face difficulty in securing offtake agreements and financing.
