Football can be a powerful tool for #peace building, it is essential to acknowledge that it is not a panacea. To achieve sustainable peace, a comprehensive approach is necessary, addressing the root causes of conflict and implementing long-term solutions. By combining football with other peace building initiatives, such as education, economic empowerment, and social justice, we can create a brighter future for the Rohingya community.
Based on that BRAC Community Based Protection (#Community_Group) organized a football tournament to promote and enforce fair play and sportsmanship among players and spectators through clear rules and regulations. And engaged youth in sports to empower them, providing them with opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and skill development. The tournament can serve as a platform for peaceful conflict resolution, as participants learn to resolve disputes through dialogue and compromise.

Two years ago cricket wasn’t on the agenda for children at Hawthorn Primary School, an inner city state school in Newcastle upon Tyne. But since then, pupils have been getting free coaching funded by the ECB and delivered by Chance to ShineNORTHUMBERLAND CRICKET BOARD LIMITED as part of our increased investment in state school cricket - and the impact has been remarkable.
England Men’s Test Captain Ben Stokes visited the school to see for himself how much the children are enjoying it, and the benefits the teachers are seeing.
Head teacher Jane Dube writes here about the impact she’s seen: https://lnkd.in/ei-4aKcH
This year, working with Chance To Shine, we’re delivering free cricket in more than 4,300 state schools. Many of them are in underserved areas, in schools like Hawthorn where more than 40% of children are eligible for free school meals.
In the next five years we aim to reach millions more children so they too can experience the benefits which cricket brings.
Today marks National Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada, a moment for reflection and action. As members of the Canadian Street Soccer Association, we acknowledge the historical injustices faced by Indigenous communities and honor their resilience and contributions.
This day is not just about remembrance; it’s a call to learn and listen. We believe that sport can serve as a powerful platform for fostering dialogue and understanding. By engaging in conversations about Indigenous history and culture, we can build a more inclusive and respectful community.
We are committed to being proactive in our education, listening to diverse perspectives, and supporting one another in the journey toward healing.

What's happening to English football? ⚽
County Football Associations (CFAs) across England have recently launched new strategies aligned with The Football Association’s (FA) national grassroots vision. This coordinated approach aims to make football more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable, addressing both local needs and national goals to secure a strong future for English football.
While each CFA’s plan is tailored to its region, several key objectives are shared across the board. CFAs are focused on expanding participation across all ages and backgrounds, enhancing inclusivity to welcome players of all abilities, improving facilities to provide safe, quality pitches, and raising coaching and player development standards. Volunteer support is also a central theme, recognising the vital role volunteers play in grassroots football.
Several CFAs have already introduced unique initiatives. East Riding FA has prioritised inclusivity and community health, while Birmingham FA focuses on youth engagement through investments in all-weather pitches and partnerships with schools. Lancashire FA has launched programmes to increase female participation and referee support, ensuring greater diversity and sustainability in local football communities.
These regional strategies closely support the FA’s national goals. For example, the FA’s recent guidelines introduce “kick-ins” and “dribble-ins” for younger players, phasing out heading for the U7 to U11 age groups to encourage safe, technical play. By adhering to these guidelines, CFAs aim to create an environment that promotes both safety and skill development from a young age.
The CFAs are now rolling out these strategies with regular monitoring to ensure goals are met and adjustments are made as needed. This collaborative effort reflects a significant step forward in grassroots football, helping the sport grow while ensuring it remains inclusive and accessible for generations to come.

Two outtakes on this great article. First, we are NOT a development league for the Americans. Basketball Africa League will take the game above and beyond the NBA, just like the Europeans did. Secondly, I love the United States 🇺🇸 the nation of immigrants and the greatest country on Earth because of it, but I wish African superstars like Joel Embiid or Hakeem Olajuwon would represent their own countries in the Olympics and other international competitions. It would show that the game is played not just for oneself, but for the team, the community and the people. Ubuntu!
Africa is the future.
