This #WorldFoodDay, we’re standing up for a fairer food system. THE PROBLEM While 733 million people face hunger, factory farming wastes valuable resources feeding animals trapped in overcrowded conditions. This system fuels environmental destruction and climate change, while worsening global food inequality and food insecurity. In the global north, factory farming drives an over-reliance on high-calorie, nutrient-poor foods, contributing to obesity and chronic diseases. Meanwhile, in the global south, land is unfairly seized to grow animal feed, deepening food insecurity. THE RIGHT TO FOOD It’s about more than just calories. Everyone deserves access to diverse and nutritious food. Factory farming blocks this right, putting profits before people. THE SOLUTION We need to shift away from factory farming. By prioritising higher welfare, nature-positive farms, we can help ensure access to healthy, sustainable food that nourishes both people and our planet. TAKE ACTION 📢 Join us in demanding a fair food and farming plan! Your voice can make a difference. Sign the petition today to end factory farming: https://lnkd.in/et_uGYqA

#WorldFoodDay We all have a right to nutritious and sustainable food. Our food environments*, which influence consumer food choices, food acceptability, and diets—such as physical and economic access to food (proximity and affordability); food promotion, advertising, and information; and food quality and safety—should be geared to support broad access to affordable, cruelty-free, and nutritious food that doesn’t harm the environment. Governments need to step up and push for a more equitable, health-focused food system that leaves no one—and no animal—behind. And one where #factoryfarming - a model of exploitation - has no place. *Definition food environment: HLPE, 2017

Rising Food Insecurity and How to Tackle It My today's contribution for #HorasisInsights: 1️⃣ Global food insecurity is growing. 2️⃣ The impact of the pandemic has drastically reduced production and funding going towards the development of modernized ways of farming. 3️⃣ Moreover, food supply chains are displaced and now strained due to protectionism, conflicts, and uncertain macroeconomic conditions. 💡 Here my proposals, on how to move towards a future where everyone has access to safe and nutritious food: https://lnkd.in/eA_CyJKC #Horasis #inspiringourfuture https://lnkd.in/eA_CyJKC

#FarmBillHistory is complicated, but this Intagram reel does a good job simplifying and summarizing how it has led to unhealthy food, a reduction of small farms and our current health crisis. ❔ Like all large bills, there have been successes and failures and the two often overlap: Successes ✔ Supported sustainable farming practices like the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), helping to reduce soil erosion and improve water quality. ✔ Enhanced food security by funding programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) ✔ Invested in rural development by providing critical funding to rural infrastructure projects, including broadband access, renewable energy, and farm technology. Failures ❌ Despite providing subsidies, it has been criticized for disproportionately benefiting large agribusinesses, leaving small-scale farmers struggling to compete. ❌ While supporting conservation programs, enough has not been done to address climate change by prioritizing regenerative agriculture practices. ❌ The SNAP program promotes ultra-processed foods with limited nutritional value. What are your thoughts about the Farm Bill? Note: This was an experiment. You can still watch the well made short film without an Instagram account by hitting the X. #AllAgConsidered #Education #Farming #Nutrition
