Hey HR Reps and Recruiters: If there is a job fair in the community that you recruit from, do you ask current employees if they want to attend and help? If they do not want any part of it, they probably think the place they work at is toxic, and are just in for the money. Why aren't your veterans recommending your place to work at? Why not ask them, and listen to their answers? Can minor adjustments make the place someone would join and want to spend 30 years at?

Employers can all agree, it is fairly easy to know when even the best candidates appears unprepared for an interview, that's why it's best to do everything you can to be on your 'A' game. To help ensure you are prepared, prior to the Diverse Abilities Job Fair we'll be hosting a Zoom meeting that touches on what you can expect at the fair, what you should know before you attend, and how you should prepare to make the most out of this opportunity. Also, learn what makes this job fair different, what types of accommodations will be provided, and how you can set up one-on-one meetings! Sometimes being prepared is the missing ingredient that a candidate needs to feel comfortable at a job fair. Your level of preparedness can also help you to stand out from the rest of the competition! To register for the Zoom meeting, please visit rb.gy/ut6m0g. We hope to see you there on April 16th!

Earlier this year, I had an idea to create an Agency Subcontractor Job Fair that would connect Online Service based Agency Owners with subcontractors. After selling out the first one, we made the next one a 2 day event and nearly sold that out too! This morning, I opened registration for our January 22nd job fair to the waitlist and, within the first few hours, we’ve sold 10% of the subcontractor spots! 🤯 It’s clearly a win/win for agency owners and subcontractors! The speed networking aspect of it allows for quick connection and bypasses some of the early steps most agency owners have to take in order to find quality hires! What questions can I answer for you about this event?

In recognition of National 2nd Chance Month, Westwood Church will be hosting a 2nd Chance Job Fair and Employment Readiness Event. We are looking for more businesses to join us. There are many reasons why companies should hire those who are formally incarcerated. These include: Employee retention: Having a criminal background makes an employee less likely to leave a job voluntarily, likely to have a higher tenure, and no more likely to be terminated. Recidivism reduction: People with criminal backgrounds with employment only have a 16% recidivism rate after three years, compared to 52% of those unemployed. Stimulates the economy: Employing just 100 people with criminal backgrounds would increase their income tax contributions by $1.9 million and boost sales tax revenues by $770,000. It would also save the government millions in criminal justice fees. Encourages self-improvement: Employing people with criminal backgrounds gives them a drive and purpose, which creates a positive change not only in their lives but also in the broader society. If you are interested in having a table at this 2nd Chance Job Fair, or have any questions, please send me an email at [email protected]

Giving students the opportunity to excel! Practice makes perfect... correction, perfect practice makes perfect! Here at Kansas State University Salina we ensure our students have the opportunity to learn by doing! Here is another wonderful example... #aviation #aviationcollege #flightschool #airlines
We welcomed a small pool of employers to offer an excellent opportunity for a virtual Pitch Night with our professional pilot students! Students heard about each organization and were "pitched" jobs and other pathway opportunities. The event also included breakout rooms where employers invited attendees to ask questions and gain additional skills and knowledge about available opportunities. Employer Pitch Nights, hosted by the campus Career Services, allow our students to have another chance to network and build off of prior conversations they had with employers at our Job Fair last month! #KStateSalina | #ExperienceMatters | #FlyKState

When outreaching to job seekers to inform them of the positions and benefits available working for IRS:CI, there are several ways contact is made. Outreaching includes going to university and college job fairs, presenting, and answering questions through virtual jobs fairs, and partnering with local, state, and federal agencies. One recent instance of collaboration with a state agency occurred last November, when IRS:CI and the Taxpayer Advocate Service partnered with the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) to hold a job fair in Metairie, La. The LWC created flyers announcing the job fair, provided a news release to media outlets announcing the time, date, and location, as well as posting the information to their social media pages. The LWC brought their Mobile Workforce Center on the day of the event where job applicants could make or update their profiles on USAJobs.gov. The USAJob.gov website is where job seekers can apply for positions with the federal government. During the job fair, personnel from the LWC assisted job seekers as needed. The IRS:CI Atlanta Field Office appreciates LWC’s effort and partnership in helping Louisianans learn about the opportunities available in the IRS. The video provides a look at how LWC provided support to the IRS at the job fair. #IRSJobs #LWC #LaWorks #partnerships
