🚒 A Milestone for Engine 904! 🚒 Today marked a truly special day for the Awendaw Fire Department as we proudly placed Engine 904 into service with a heartfelt Wet Down and Push-In Ceremony at Fire Station 4. This ceremony signifies the start of a new chapter for our department and our community, and we are excited for what lies ahead. Engine 904 has been dedicated to Edward "Jenner" Wood. In the wake of this loss, many sought a meaningful way to honor his memory, and one idea stood out: dedicating a fire truck in his honor. Jenner had a deep love for fire trucks, making this tribute an especially fitting way to remember him. Thanks to the support of his family, friends, and the entire community, this vision became a reality, and the process officially began in the spring. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this effort and helped create a lasting legacy for Jenner. The significance of the day was amplified by a blessing from the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy, ensuring that Engine 904 begins its service with divine protection and guidance. Fire Chief Gadsden shared powerful words, highlighting the importance of tradition in the fire service and explaining the rich history behind the Push-In Ceremony — a symbol of an engine returning to duty after being fully equipped and ready to serve. We are excited to see Engine 904 ready for action and look forward to the years of service it will provide to our community. This moment is a testament to the dedication of our team and their unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe. As Engine 904 takes to the streets, it will carry Jenner’s memory, continuing to serve the community he loved and inspiring others to do the same. #AwendawFire #Engine904 #PushInCeremony #FireServiceTradition #WetDown #CommunityFirst #ServingWithPride
