There is A LOT of awesome research at this year's CVPR! This year, the conference received 11,532 valid paper submissions, but only 2,719 were accepted, for an overall acceptance rate of about 23.6%. However, keeping up with the vast research presented at this year's CVPR can be challenging. But what if you could access all this knowledge in one convenient location, allowing you to identify trends and gain valuable insights easily? Well, I curated a dataset hosted on Hugging Face and built it with FiftyOne, which does just that – to help you explore this year's conference offerings. I was able to find/scrape 2,389 of the 2,719 accepted papers, and I put them into a dataset that we will explore together! The notebook link is in the description, and here's a glimpse of what you'll be able to do 👇🏼 #computervision #deeplearning

Visit Bredec.com Bredec Group Bredec Group Ask HN: How to Get into Alien Research?: Now I know it's a rabbit hole that could be purely imaginative. So far there is no solid proof for actual pursuit of such research on earth -- the best thing we heard from a while ago was A, a credible source in the US gov, heard from B that there has been some black projects going on for decades -- so hearsays, not solid proofs. Anyway, let's assume that such projects DO exist. How can a civilian get in? Or how can a civilian prepare his/her children to get into the field? First, I think you have to be a natural citizen and pass the most stringent security check -- it's going to be more than top secret, most likely only available to a selection of personnel. As an immigrant turned citizen, my hope to pass that check is -- zero, so that goes to my kid. Next, since we know nothing about the black projects, we need to find some venues to get closer. I think joining military/intelligence/top military contractor is not only almost mandatory, but also easier than any other careers. It automatically proves loyalty to the country -- so it's much easier to get those security checks. But joining as a foot soldier is not going to be super useful. You gotta be an elite to be picked. I think there are four possible routes: - As a top special force team commander who could work on UFO recovery; - As a test pilot who fly top secret aircrafts in case we want to down those UFOs; - As a top military scientific researcher (Biochemistry, Astronomy, Mathematics, Linguistics and such related fields come into mind) -- maybe you can start as a top civilian researcher and then get tapped; - Naturally they need people who does other boring stuffs (cleaning, administration, cooking, etc.). I'm not sure how those people are picked, but most likely from the families of the above 3; Well, looks like it's roughly 1 in 10,000, so good luck friends! --- Comments URL: https://lnkd.in/dFTycHye Points: 4 # Comments: 1 [email protected] [email protected]

While letters of interest have been (an optional) part of the match process for a long time, there’s some skepticism about whether they will be effective in the presence of signals. I’d argue that even in the presence of a signal, a well-written, highly personalized letter of interest can work in your favor. Here’s some guidance on how to write a strong letter! When to Send 2-3 weeks after ERAS opens to programs is ideal. What to Avoid – Don’t write a long letter of interest. It should be brief, about 300 words, max. – Don’t copy words or phrases from the program’s mission statement (or anything else they will recognize as taken directly from their website). – Don’t focus the letter on explaining your CV/accomplishments. Best Practices – Write with a friendly yet professional tone. Remember, you’re excited about possibly meeting this person! – Choose 3-4 aspects of the program that you love AND that connect with a concrete part of your background. For example: Is the program known for its community work AND you have a volunteer-heavy CV/background? Point that out. Does the program have interesting curriculum/electives that align with your background/concrete goals? Let them know! Is a faculty member engaged in research that is relevant to something you’ve worked on? Have their graduates gone on to do things that you have been working toward in some way? Essentially, these letters are best when you connect an aspect of the program with an experience from your CV/background. You can also emphasize a geographic connection, like having family in the area or having spent time in the area.
