Yesterday I had the pleasure of giving a keynote speech at the Roissy Meaux Aéropôle, a prestigious event discussing hydrogen, renewable energy and sustainable fuels in industry. Heavy industries account for 39% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This is a significant number, and we need to turn challenge into opportunity. The good news is that we have the tools and technologies to take action today. Currently, only 25% of energy used in industry in Europe is electrified, but nearly half could be replaced with electricity through the technologies we already have today. At Schneider Electric we want to bridge this gap by empowering customers with the power of #digital and #electric solutions. 🔥 Ready for a revolution in energy efficiency? 🌟 Have you ever wondered what the future of electricity generation looks like? 💡 Well, this week, together with @Sasa Medved and Duro Drzaic had the incredible opportunity to take our HEP Proizvodnja customer representatives Vedran Gaće and Josip Misura on an eye-opening journey to Vienna, witnessing firsthand the innovative energy efficiency initiatives at Wien Energie GmbH 🚀 🔥 Wien Energie is leading the charge in introducing hydrogen into electricity generation and district heating, setting a remarkable example for sustainable energy solutions. 💨🔌 The pilot project at Donaustadt cogeneration plant is a groundbreaking endeavor, exploring the potential of green hydrogen to revolutionize power generation and decaronize City of Vienna. 🌱💧 💡 With operational testing successfully performed Hydrogen Field test on the Siemens Energy gas turbine in the amount of 15% hydrogen mix blended with natural gas and plans to increase hydrogen blending to 25%, the Donaustadt plant is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future. By blending green hydrogen with a 15% share, the plant can reduce its annual carbon dioxide emissions by 33,000 tons 🌍🌿 The collaboration between Wien Energie GmbH Siemens Energy , RheinEnergie AG and VERBUND AG exemplifies the power of partnership in driving innovation 👍 Fantastic work by all colleagues involved Alexander Kirchner Alexander Wolfgang Ing. Wave energy has enormous potential. It’s not only clean but also highly predictable – a key solution to stabilizing the clean energy mix that will bring us closer to decarbonizing industries and a zero-emissions future. Fantastic news for Stockholm-based CorPower Ocean, who has just secured €32 million in Series B1 funding to advance its #waveenergy technology towards commercialization. This major investment announced at EIT InnoEnergy’s Business Booster, brings wave energy closer to joining the #renewables mix, tapping into the vast and underutilized ocean resources. CorPower Ocean’s technology addresses key barriers that have held back wave power from becoming mainstream like the ability to survive harsh storm conditions, demonstrated by recent trials at its test site in Portugal.
