HSG - Controlling / Performance Management’s Post

📢 “Even established companies still get this surprisingly wrong… what you learn here is way ahead of what many companies actually do!"   💰 In the lecture on “The Practice of Modern Planning and Budgeting” within the Master in General Management (MGM-HSG) programme, our PostDoc Victoria Honsel had the pleasure of hosting Felix Scheb and Sebastian Bräuer from Berylls by AlixPartners. As a strategy consultancy specialising in the mobility and automotive industries, Berylls has extensive experience in transforming corporate budgeting and planning processes. Felix and Sebastian shared valuable insights and methodologies from their real-world projects.   📶 The students were particularly surprised to learn how many companies, even well-established and large ones, struggle to adopt concepts and best practices that are commonly taught at universities and may seem like common sense from a theoretical perspective. For example, they discussed a case where Berylls helped a client implement a modified top-down planning approach, which was a first for the German automotive supplier industry. Once implemented, modern practices such as rolling forecasts and double-loop planning showed clear benefits, including faster budgeting processes, reduced overheads and improved accuracy.   Thank you Berylls for the good exchange with the whole team around Prof. Dr. Klaus Möller and for sharing your expertise with the students!
