Climate change and wine industry in BC… if you are reseeding and restructuring… how about doing green houses… I know costly, but you can reseed and have control over the climate and perhaps prevent this from happening again. You may loose some space and such from the structures but the gains mean you get to never loose your palants again. #bcgovernment #winerycanada #bcwinery #bcvineyards #vineyard

The Peat Conundrum: How Scotland's push for climate action could impact the whisky industry Peat has long been a crucial component in crafting the signature smoky flavour of Scotch whiskies. But Scotland is now mulling over restrictions on peat sales to tackle climate change and preserve its moorlands. This could significantly impact the country's whisky industry, with potential cultural and economic implications. Polar bear mothers rely on both sea ice and snowy onshore dens to raise their cubs. ❄️ The melting arctic – as a result of climate change – is one of the biggest threats polar bears face. Since factory farming of animals is such a big contributor to climate change, you can help make your winter holidays animal-friendly by serving plant-based food. #SaveThePolarBears

According to the Met Office figures, 2024 was the 6th wettest spring in the UK, with a 32% departure from the 1991-2020 reference period. Quite remarkable, considering 18 wettest aggregated months on record for #England and #Wales (the period between September 2022 and March 2024). Notice an increasing trend in wetter springs - consistent with climate change and more water vapour in the atmosphere.

What we knew all along....... https://lnkd.in/gJAEfrtF If you consider that New Zealand has approximately 3.7 million beef cattle which do exactly the same thing as Bison do. All of our beef cattle are not as big as Bison so by weight you could cut that number by say 40%. which is equivelent to 13,058 times the population of Bison. A Bison soaks up 11764 cars. So do the math, 3.7 million less 40% is around 2.2 million x 11764 cars each and you will see we soak up enough CO2 emitted by probably the entire Southern hemishere vehicles. Bottom line is you can't tax your way out of this so called climate change because it is a naturally occuring event which has it's ups and downs over hundreds of years.

Let's unite to protect our vital green friends. Plants provide 98% of our oxygen and 80% of the food we eat. But invasive pests threaten them, fueled by global travel and climate change. Together, let's ensure the health and vitality of our plants, safeguard food security, and preserve the rich tapestry of life on Earth for generations to come. #internationalplanthealthday #environmentalsustainability #planthealth #foodsecurity

Responsible commercial forests bring big export earnings and other many benefits for New Zealand, but wilding conifers 🌲 (aka wilding pines) are the opposite. They are unplanned and unhelpful, and uncontrolled. So what are the dangers of a wilding infestation compared to a beneficial forest? 🌲 No firebreaks to slow wildfires or aid firefighting 🌲 No setbacks to protect waterways 🌲 No use as timber in most cases 🌲 No help to our climate change goals. As tree weeds, wildings do more harm than good even while they absorb some carbon – as agreed in internationally climate policy. 🌲 No spacing or pruning means dense stands with no native undergrowth - light and rain don’t reach the ground. Check out this video 👇 from Wilding Free Mackenzie for more on the dangers of wilding conifers. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gcrb4k5p

Recent years have seen troubling trends—below average numbers for five years straight in Maryland’s juvenile striped bass survey, fewer citation-sized stripers being registered in Virginia, and a steep decline in the Bay’s commercial striped bass catch. There are many reasons for these trends, ranging from overfishing and climate change to pollution and loss of habitat. But changing fishing habits is the only immediate way to make a difference. https://lnkd.in/eHiNCwQq
