Good news at the end of the week for the financing of our green transformation! 🌱 With a total volume of AUD 1 billion, which is equivalent to around EUR 616 million, EnBW yesterday successfully issued two green bonds on the Australian capital market for the first time. I am delighted that our inaugural issue in this region has been so successful, especially in view of the high financing requirements for implementing the #energytransition. The successful transaction shows that Australian and Asian investors, too, reward our integrated portfolio approach along the entire energy value chain. We are currently in the process of building the carbon-free energy infrastructure of the future. Our strategy is clearly focused on #decarbonisation. This also applies to our investments and their financing. The proceeds from the bonds will be used to finance the green transformation of our portfolio. We are making good progress here: we currently have around 1.5 GW of renewable energies under construction, not to mention the accompanying grid expansion. The inaugural AUD 1 billion dual tranche bond issuance was supported by high-quality regional and international institutional investors.

The Climate Investment Funds’ Clean Technology Fund partnered with EBRD in #Türkiye, to expand #renewableenergy and help the country become less fossil fuel dependent. The results? Together, we mobilized €847 million for 2,820 projects, adding around 762 MW of renewable energy capacity and significantly reducing emissions. A pivotal decision to focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (#SMEs) helped these partners transform Türkiye’s energy market. Through creating the Turkey Sustainable Energy Finance Facility (TurSEFF), in 2010, and partnering with commercial banks to make financing accessible to SMEs, the Turkish market overcame barriers such as high upfront costs and limited awareness about #cleanenergy technologies. The Treasurer’s speech to business group CEDA this week was designed to manage expectations about the May Budget - there’s no cash to dispense, but there is to be a focus on investment to drive growth. https://lnkd.in/ghViTqWf The main point from the Climate Capital Forum’s perspective is that the government is developing a “whole‑of‑government” investment strategy, which is great. But without a strategic investment of public capital to back it in, investors will lack confidence. Our policy proposals that can drive investment in the renewable energy revolution are outlined in our pre-budget submission: https://lnkd.in/gHMjBVWB

What are Sovereign Green Bonds? Should you invest? Sovereign Green Bonds (SGrBs) are a type of government bond specifically earmarked to finance environmentally sustainable projects. Unlike traditional government bonds, where the funds raised may be allocated to general expenses or initiatives, SGrBs are exclusively dedicated to green causes. These projects typically include investments in renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, sustainable infrastructure development, clean transportation initiatives, and other environmentally beneficial projects. By investing in SGrBs, investors contribute directly to these green causes while still receiving financial returns in the form of interest payments on their investment. what do you think? #financialplanning #wealthmanager #retirementadvisor

Very much look forward to the discussion: one of the most intriguing session for the APAC Summit week!
Matthew Taylor, Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific at Green Giraffe Advisory, will be speaking at the APAC Clean Energy Finance Summit this month! The world's most populous region has attracted significant capital looking to advance the energy transition, but much remains to be done to meet the financing need in APAC. We look forward to discussing innovative ways we can mobilise this capital with other panellists from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Corio Generation, UK Export Finance, and Deutsche Bank. Thank you, Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to this crucial conversation. #APACWindEnergySummit #RenewableEnergy #Finance #Sustainability #APAC
