Yesterday 3rd June 2024, Microsoft announced that "All versions of NTLM, including LANMAN, NTLMv1, and NTLMv2, are no longer under active feature development and are deprecated. Use of NTLM will continue to work in the next release of Windows Server and the next annual release of Windows. Calls to NTLM should be replaced by calls to Negotiate, which will try to authenticate with Kerberos and only fall back to NTLM when necessary." Hey SysAdmins! 👋 I've started documenting my hands-on experience of building an Active Directory on a Windows Server 2022 virtual lab, running on macOS. I hope it’s helpful to others starting this journey, and I’m open to feedback or tips from more experienced AD admins! It’s a work in progress. So far I configured a virtual environment, managed domain settings, set up user accounts/computers, and handled network and DNS issues (well, almost!).
