There is an employee out there who still thinks of you because you were kind to them. Credit to Chad Gono. Follow him for more insights on workplace culture. Original post below: ===== I was at the mall Saturday when I ran into an old employee I used to manage. We reminisced on old times, shared a few laughs, and as we parted ways she said: “Thanks again for what you did for me when my Mother passed away. I’ll never forget that.” This was back in my retail days. We decided to pay her for 3 weeks even though she didn’t have any Vacation or PTO left. She and her mother were super close, and she was a fantastic employee. It just seemed like the right thing to do and honestly I didn't think much of it. Obviously she did. Which brings me to the point. Business is hard and challenging and crazy and fun. It can be horrible. It can be awesome. It can also be inconvenient. What helps more than anything is having a boss that is a reasonable freaking human being. We’re all gonna die and when you’re on your deathbed you won’t remember that stupid account you got or that month you grossed $500k. You will remember the faces, the relationships you made, and the way you treated people. Don’t take all this too seriously. Yes, have ambition. Achieve. Work hard and try to hit all those crazy goals. It inspires! But also BE KIND, find perspective, and put yourself in others' shoes. You may not realize how much it means to others until way down the line. Just remember our job is not just to deliver results but also to spread love and make this world a better place - THIS is what people remember. 😘 ===== 📌 Secure your spot for our FREE talk for CEOs HAPPENING TODAY. Very true. I recently received this from a former direct report and it does make you feel great about your style of leadership that they care enough to take the time to recognise it ❤️
"People will forget what you said. They will forget what you did. But they will never forget how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou.
This. I had this amazing experience, when an ex employee WHOM I fired reached out to me and thanked me for my management and how I handled things. It was years after the event, I was very down at that time, I never thought anybody will come and say it was a positive thing. But they were so unhappy on that position, and we tried everything possible to change that - it was a deadlock, a bad fit. So i fired them with sadness, but believed they hated me.
The most important thing we can do for other people is to help them to beleive that success is possible for them too, and to help them move towards the achievement of their goals. https://corporatecoachgroup.com/courses/leadership-and-management-training
It’s true, and, on the other hand, we’ve also had the pleasure of working with people who were so talented, kind, and loyal that I often think about what an honor and joy it would be to collaborate with them again.
Dr. Phebe Paul Koti Divya Chaurasia reminds me of you two. Thank you for being so kind always!
Fady Sursock Marie Simon thank you for being “that leaders” 🤍
If more leaders recognized that their role is to lead, inspire, and encourage—rather than merely direct, micromanage, or control—we’d likely see greater productivity, stronger buy-in, and improved products and services.
Love this reminder that leadership is about more than hitting targets—it’s about the human impact we have along the way. 🌟 In a fast-paced world, small acts of kindness and empathy can be game-changers for team morale and loyalty. We believe in building systems that empower teams, but true strength comes from leaders who care. 💪 Keep inspiring, one thoughtful gesture at a time! The CEO Accelerator by Eric Partaker
