Our Century teams came together to celebrate the holiday season with joyful gatherings at both our Richmond headquarters and our Hong Kong office!
In Richmond, we welcomed local and remote teammates from across the U.S. and Canada, with a special visit from Frances Y., VP - Global HR & Admin, who joined us in person all the way from Hong Kong. The rest of our North America remote team joined virtually via Teams and our Hong Kong team shared their own festive celebration. Across both locations, we enjoyed delicious meals, fun holiday games, and plenty of laughter.
It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on a fantastic year, connect with teammates, and celebrate our shared achievements around the globe. ✨ #HappyHolidays#Century#Teamwork
Corporate holiday parties are making a strong comeback in Canada, with a renewed focus on celebrating achievements and fostering workplace camaraderie. Holiday spending in 2024 is projected to rise by 10%, reflecting a shift toward investing in meaningful experiences, including corporate events
Hosting a holiday party offers several benefits for your organization. First, it’s a fantastic opportunity to boost employee morale. Recognizing your team’s hard work in a festive setting shows appreciation, which can lead to increased job satisfaction and retention—key factors in today’s competitive job market.
These events can also foster team building by providing a relaxed atmosphere where colleagues can connect on a personal level, strengthening workplace relationships and collaboration.
Holiday celebrations also allow companies to reflect on their successes from the past year. Acknowledging achievements in a shared space not only motivates employees but also sets a positive tone for the coming year. Moreover, a thoughtfully planned party reinforces your company culture, demonstrating your commitment to creating an engaging and supportive work environment.

🌟 Award or no award, I'm genuinely proud to be part of this Marketing & Comms team. I mean, why else would I take my Annual Leave and pay for my trip to hang out in BKK with people that I already see so often? Why would I PM a colleague's wedding for her?
🐣 I didn't tell a lot of folks this, but when I was first hired here (in 2021, semi-out of Covid era), I was pregnant with my second kid in my (very pukey) first trimester. I wanted to be evaluated -purely- by my abilities and skills, so with the two firms that I had gone for interviews with, I only told them about my pregnancy after I had cleared the interviews with my to-be direct supervisors, but BEFORE I signed the contracts. So essentially, they could drop me like a hot potato once they found out I was pregnant, before anything was inked in black and white.
One firm did, the other didn't.
The firm that hired me didn't treat me like I was handicapped just because I was pregnant. I mean, of course my colleagues were extra kind and helpful to a pregnant woman -- carry/ shift those chairs for you, hold the door a bit longer for you. But they know a pregnant woman can still work. Her brain still functions. She can still set up shop and run PR and vet stuff and clinch coverage.
This is an inclusive team that I'm in -- we're Chinese + Malay + Indian (not yet Others); we're halal + vegetarian + bak-ku-teh; we're Singaporeans + non-Singaporeans + new Singaporeans. We're a mish mesh of personalities, MBTIs, right/left dominant brain, introverts+ extroverts+ introverts who became increasingly extroverted.
We help each other, we share the load, we share our wins -- inside and outside of work. We're treated like adults who know how to manage our time and resources. If we have issues (which of course you'd have when you work together), we put our cards on the table and thrash things out.
You must've worked in places where you barely want to have lunch with your teammates, much less go on a self-sponsored holiday with them. I know I have.
But this, this is a team I am proud to say I am a part of. 💝

Yes. Appreciate the people who work with you & for you because, as Dr. John Maxwell says, “𝑰𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌.” Helen Keller says, “𝑨𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒐 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆; 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉.” Remember that a person who feels appreciated will always do more than expected.
As the world celebrates International Workers’ Day today, here are a few appreciation ideas 😉
📌𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐆𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐒. Implement a structured recognition program where outstanding performance or achievements are publicly acknowledged. This could include employee of the month awards, shout-outs in team meetings, or even company-wide announcements.
📌𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐙𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍. Take the time to acknowledge & appreciate individual team members personally. This could involve handwritten notes, personalized emails, or one-on-one meetings in which you express your gratitude for their hard work & contributions.
📌𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐌 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒. Organize team-building events or outings to celebrate milestones or achievements. This could be anything from a casual lunch or dinner to a fun activity like bowling or a team picnic. These events not only foster a sense of camaraderie but also provide an opportunity for team members to relax & unwind together.
📌𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐌 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒. Dedicate specific days or half-days solely to celebrate & appreciate your team's efforts. This could involve organizing themed events, providing catered meals, or arranging relaxation activities like massages or workout sessions. It's an opportunity for everyone to unwind & bond outside of regular work tasks. &
📌𝐅𝐋𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐒. Offer flexibility in work schedules or additional perks to reward hard work & dedication. This could include extra paid time off, flexible work hours, or other benefits that align with your team members' preferences & needs.

Why are Family Fun Activities ideal corporate events?
Traditional incentives like bonuses may not foster lasting employee loyalty. To truly engage staff and boost performance, involve their families:
📍Incorporate family into company events, showing value for both employee and loved ones.
📍Strengthen bonds between colleagues and their families, fostering camaraderie.
📍Boost retention and create a happier workplace, enhancing company culture.
For employees, family fun days offer:
✅Stress relief and a chance to introduce loved ones to colleagues.
✅Work-life balance and socialization opportunities.
Incorporating families in company events builds pride and belonging, enhancing job satisfaction and engagement for all.

As we wrap up another year, it’s worth remembering that a company is more than just sales charts and conversion rates—it’s built on the strength and happiness of its people. One wonderful way to show genuine appreciation is through a memorable end-of-year celebration. When you bring the team together to acknowledge their hard work and successes, you spark a sense of belonging and positivity that goes far beyond the holiday season.
Well-planned holiday events don’t just “check a box.” They help strengthen company culture, lift spirits, and create personal connections across departments. Whether it’s hosting a themed party, organizing a community service activity, or recognizing top performers with a small ceremony, these gestures highlight what truly matters: the individuals who power your organization every single day.
By embracing diverse traditions and encouraging inclusive participation, companies can celebrate the unique backgrounds that make their teams special. Doing so creates an environment where every voice feels valued, driving engagement and loyalty in the long run.
No matter the size or style of your holiday event, investing in these celebrations is ultimately an investment in the heart of your organization—its people. After all, when employees feel genuinely appreciated, everyone thrives.
