🎉 Celebrating my 7th work anniversary today! And thanks to everyone who wished me a happy anniversary on the DM in the past 2 weeks. Today is the official, formation day. Last year, I was able to check off a few things on my bucket list. There were definitely moments when I felt like throwing in the towel, but I’m grateful I didn’t. Resilience has been one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned over the past few years, especially during the pandemic when my entire business depended on a market that kept going in and out of lockdown for 3 years. In the past year, I have met many inspiring people, made new friends, learnt more, created more and shared more—all thanks to my work. Running a China-focused marketing agency is still fun and fulfilling, most of the time! I still love my job after 7 years and here is to many more years of growth and success! ( too early for drinks, here is espresso to kick start the day!) A friend once pointed out that I don’t share enough online, which is true—and sometimes it’s intentional. I refrain from posting too much. While I’m more extroverted in professional settings, I usually only share what I feel is relevant to the business. This habit reflects a mix of cultural influences, personality, social media protocol, and the constant pull in different directions. This year, I’m challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone, just a bit more. While my personality and style may stay the same, I will find more creative ways to create and share insightful content. Stay tuned for more updates!

Of course I had to get some balloons for the occasion 🎈 Celebrating 25 years is no small feat, and this bunch has truly worked hard to get Powerhouse to where we are today. Huge congratulations Rich White, Neil Adams and Tony Lendill! Funnily enough, I’m also celebrating my work anniversary this month. Call it a coincidence 😜 It’s been 2 years since I became part of the family. Having transitioned from B2C, I can confidently say that agency life is MAD. No two days are ever the same, and change is the only constant. Especially when you work with Ben Martin 😂 (love you really!) But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m trusted. I’m surrounded by the best people, who constantly inspire me to push a little bit further and do better. 🚀 If you’re thinking of making the switch from brand to agency side, here are some things you should be prepared for: 1. Planning is important, but the ability to rapidly adapt is even more so. The pace is fast, and priorities can shift in an instant. 2. Navigating a room full of opinions. You’ll have people around you that are way more creative than you, louder, and more experienced. It can feel overwhelming at first. But trust me, you’ll learn to balance different perspectives and make the right decisions. 3. Even if you’re not in a client-facing role (like me), building strong relationships with your clients is absolutely invaluable. The more you understand them, the easier your job will be. Plus widening your network of peers can only be a good thing. Depending on the agency size, your role can feel pretty lonely at times! 4. Freedom comes at a price. You’ll have more creative freedom, but with that comes greater responsibility. You’re trusted to bring ideas to the table, but you need to deliver results. No ifs or buts. I appreciate all of your kind words on my work anniversary! Reaching a one-year, two-year, or longer milestone in one's profession is usually a significant accomplishment. Serving the organization to the utmost of our abilities using every skill we possess; if this produces fruitful outcomes, we will have effectively completed half of the task. After twelve years in your previous favorite fantasy firm, moving into a new dream job with all the flexibility you need to adjust and move forward is a blessing for every individual.   As a firm, Sasken is now on the mission towards a target of 60*4*3. What a wild ride so far. I just celebrated my 9 year anniversary here commonsku. I think work anniversary's are funny. Thank yous and praise for staying somewhere. Likely because we are in a job market where people pop from one company to another, climbing the company directories by changing location. But not me, I've always been here. The question I get asked by far the most when I interview people for my department is "why". Again, to me this is funny. I work in a place that allows me to be my sarcastic, honest and sometimes stubborn self. A place that supports me professionally and personally. Where I am trusted in my decisions, opinions and thoughts. I am allowed to make mistakes, celebrate wins and (what I tell everyone in interviews) I don't need to pretend to be someone else between 9 and 5. Maybe I get asked because it is rare to find a place that does this. But that's the reason I should be saying thank you. This isn't meant to be a sappy post or telling you all how awesome my job, my coworkers, my bosses and my customers all are. I don't write my thoughts out often, but I feel like this is owed. A thank you from me to all of those people I just mentioned for allowing me to be here for 9 years, allowing me to be successful, trusting in me and making my work something I legitimately love to do. 9 years is just the start of my journey here. And I'm pumped to see what I can do in the next 9.

As I am approaching what would have been my 10-year work anniversary with my former employer in the next couple of days, it's a poignant moment to reflect on the significant chapter of my career that I shared with the company. While circumstances may have led me on a different path since then, the memories, experiences, and lessons learned during my tenure hold a special place in my professional journey. 😇 Thinking back on my time with my former employer, I recall a multitude of memories and milestones that defined my career during those past years. From my very first day on the job to pivotal projects, team successes, and personal achievements, each moment contributed to my growth and development personally and professionally. Not forgetting the highs and lows, the challenges overcome, and the camaraderie shared with colleagues who became friends. Work anniversary thoughts... Hmm, it feels surreal to be typing this out – my 14-year work anniversary, path of growth, challenges, and countless memories. Don't get me wrong, that I was never thinking if I should have taken a different path, or if there's a grander adventure waiting just beyond the horizon. But then I remember something - I like what I do. I've been entrusted with a responsibility that's both daunting and exhilarating-ensuring Occupational Health and Safety. Working across borders, navigating diverse regulations, and collaborating with colleagues worldwide, every day brings a new puzzle to solve and a new life to safeguard. It's a role that carries weight - the weight of responsibility for the well-being of others, where a misstep could mean more than just a missed deadline. But amidst the seriousness, there's a joy that's hard to explain. Yes, the challenges can be relentless, but they've also been my greatest teachers, shaping me into the person I am today. So, as I pause to celebrate this milestone, I'm filled with gratitude - for the journey that brought me here, for the opportunities that pushed me to grow, and for the incredible people who've believed in me and walked alongside me. Happy 1st Work Anniversary, Malik Usama Saif! 🎉💼 The office wouldn't be the same without him! His delicious home-cooked lunches (that beef karahi is legendary!), infectious laugh, and playful banter make him a true gem. We love the friendly rivalry that goes on between BD, Admin, and HR - their joke wars are legendary keeping our office alive! Looks like OCloud has made Usama shift from green tea to chai, thanks to Asif's brewing skills! Who knew he'd become a tea lover? Usama is a go-to person when you need to discuss where to do the next team dinner, or where the menu is full of mutton. 🍖😅 But seriously Usama truly knows how to support people around him. Usama's desk has an aura to it. It features an unused LED screen and a new read every week. His neatly stacked notebooks with Shayari notes are a unique touch. His proudest achievement here was hosting the 2023 annual event, which everyone remembers fondly thanks to his lighthearted humor! Usama wants to block out distractions (mainly his best friend Asad A. Alvi, our admin) and conquer any task that comes his way. When it comes to colleagues, Usama is a true team player – "We always have each other's backs," he says, "and work is way more fun with good friends by your side." (he means his junior Ahad Ali on the left and senior Rehan Aslam on right). His mentor, Rehan Babar, inspires him with his calmness and strategic approach. Next year Usama wants to focus on learning how to close sales to unlock even more opportunities. His advice for future BDs facing challenges? A simple one – "If you are stuck somewhere at work, have some cake!" (yeah he likes sweets😁). Here's to many more years at OCloud Usama! ✨🚀
