Psychedelic experiences can unlock powerful emotions and insights—but EMDR can help take that healing even further. By combining EMDR + Psychedelic Integration, we provide clients with the tools they need to fully process the emotions, memories, and sensations that emerge during psychedelic therapy. Bilateral stimulation allows clients to not just experience these breakthroughs but to integrate them deeply, turning those moments of clarity into lasting change. This combination offers a structured path to not only manage overwhelming emotions but also transform them into stepping stones for personal growth and resilience. If you're an EMDR therapist supporting clients with psychedelic integration work, let me know!

Unlike traditional exposure therapies, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) doesn’t require clients to relive painful memories or re-experience past traumas. Instead, EMDR uses gentle, bilateral eye movements to support the central nervous system in naturally reprocessing trauma responses. This approach allows for healing without retraumatization, harnessing your mind's innate ability to find relief and resilience. 💪🌱 Curious about how EMDR might help the journey to recovery? How does EMDR work? Our therapist Caitlin Laun, LMHC, SUDP, shares her expertise in this video. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is designed to help the brain reprocess trauma and painful memories. It supports the brain in releasing trauma stored in the nervous system, making these memories feel less intense over time. This therapy empowers you to respond differently to past events, fostering healing and resilience. Interested in learning if EMDR could work for you? The eight phases of EMDR therapy provide a framework to understand the treatment process. They act as a map for the EMDR therapist to follow. The names of the eight phases describe what happens during each phase and each phase focuses on a particular aspect of treatment (Hase, 2021). All eight phases contribute to the overall effect of EMDR therapy, however, not all phases may be used in one EMDR therapy session. EMDR therapy works by targeting distressing memories, current triggers, and future stressors. The process unfolds over eight phases, helping individuals process traumatic memories in a structured manner. Through bilateral stimulation, like guided eye movements, EMDR aids the brain in reprocessing these memories, reducing their emotional impact. This approach provides a pathway for healing by addressing both past traumas and present challenges, while preparing for future stressors, making it a comprehensive therapy for long-term relief. One common challenge new EMDR therapists face is deciding where to start with target selection. A practical approach involves closely examining the client's history to identify key events that contribute to their current issues. By mapping out significant life experiences, you can pinpoint which events are most relevant to the client's presenting problems and therapy goals. This method helps in breaking down complex client presentations into manageable pieces, making the target selection process less daunting. It ensures that the targets are meaningful and directly related to the client's current struggles, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of EMDR therapy. Remember, understanding the client's history isn't just about knowing their past; it's about using that knowledge to guide their path to healing.
