Human rights abuses remain a growing global problem, with an estimated 21.3 million people living under forced labor in 2021. Efforts to transition to a low-carbon economy could exacerbate this issue if not managed carefully. Integrating a human-rights focus into core business strategies is crucial. In working to ensure an ethical supply chain, companies will reinforce the organization’s values, protect the company from potential brand damage, and increase the resilience of the supply chain. In the new BCG article, "Why Companies Must Address Human Rights in Their Supply Chains" by Natasha Peacock and Tim Mohin, discover how businesses can protect human rights while also benefiting their performance: https://lnkd.in/ekkqwXPD Learn more about how companies are aligning their strategic objectives with societal needs in the new articles, "The Power of Socially Transformative Businesses," here: https://lnkd.in/ev_Z66tY.

As we approach Human Rights Day on December 10th, I'm reminded that the foundation of any successful business isn't just about profits - it's about people and their fundamental dignity. This annual observance marks the UN's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, but its message resonates powerfully in today's business landscape. In our interconnected world, every business decision we make can impact human rights, whether through our supply chains, workplace practices, or community engagement. I believe that businesses play a crucial role in advancing human rights. It's not just about compliance - it's about creating workplaces where everyone feels valued, ensuring fair labor practices throughout our supply chains, and using our platforms to advocate for positive change. Today, I invite my network to reflect: How can we better integrate human rights considerations into our business practices? What small changes can we make that could have significant impacts on people's lives? Let's remember that protecting human rights isn't just a moral imperative - it's essential for sustainable business success. When we uphold human dignity, we create stronger companies, more resilient communities, and a better world for all. #HumanRightsDay #BusinessEthics #Leadership #SocialImpact #CorporateResponsibility
