🚛🚗 Had a few days to digest my Fleet & Mobility Live experiences 🚗🚛 My key takeaway? The role of a fleet manager has never been more complex... It’s no longer just about vehicles and routes. Fleet managers are now dealing with sustainability targets, data analysis, compliance, HR, and even becoming a chemistry and electricity experts regarding battery technologies. The responsibilities have expanded significantly, demanding a broader skill set and deeper involvement throughout the company. Thought Germans were sticklers for order? My first day in Hamburg had me questioning EVERYTHING. Determined to be punctual, I arrived at the bus stop way too early. Feeling like a model of efficiency, I planted myself firmly behind the bus stop sign. Now, this is where things got interesting ... As more people started appearing, they completely ignored the imaginary queue in my head. Some stood casually in front of the sign; others just chilled to the side. Alarm bells started ringing in my head. Didn't these Germans believe in orderly queues? After what felt like an eternity, the bus finally arrived. Everyone, including the apparent line-ignoring rebels, surged forward in a frantic scramble. Guess who ended up shoved onto the bus last? You guessed it—me! Lesson Learned: German bus queues are more of a "free-for-all" than a "first-come, first-served" situation. But, it's a story I'll never forget. Fast forward to today: The only "queueing" I do involves waiting my turn at red lights—on my trusty bicycle, of course. While we wait for our bus at the bus station (or train or flight), we don't feel bad about other buses leaving. We earnestly wait for our bus to arrive. The state of the other buses is irrelevant to us. Similarly, comparing ourselves with anyone else should also be irrelevant to us. Then why is it difficult not to compare? The answer is the time. We know when our bus is scheduled to come, but we don't know when we are going to get our break, and we start comparing ourselves with others. But, comparing ourselves with others still is irrelevant, because just as we wait for “our” bus to arrive, we should also wait for “our” success to arrive. #personaldevelopment #success #journey
