In the past few weeks, I have worked with several individuals in coaching sessions, and it has been a truly insightful journey. One thing I have noticed? When I ask, “What can I help you with today?” there is an assumption that I would be providing a list of solutions to their goals or challenges. This opens up a perfect opportunity to clarify the distinct roles of a Coach, Mentor, Counselor, and Therapist—each serving different purposes but often misunderstood as interchangeable. As someone who has mentored through Reed WIT and the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School Thrive Mentoring Programme, I know the importance of providing guidance, sharing experiences, and offering advice. However, when I am wearing my Career or Executive Coach hat, the approach shifts entirely. In coaching, you are the CEO of your life and career. My role isn’t to give you the answers but to empower you to uncover them yourself. Through powerful questioning, active listening, and thoughtful reflection, I help you unlock your own insights, guiding you toward clarity, confidence, and action. Coaching is about putting you in the driver’s seat—helping you discover that the answers are within you. It is about developing self-leadership, resilience, and the tools to navigate your own journey. If you are ready to step into the CEO role of your own life, let’s connect. Coaching might be the key to unlocking your potential and achieving those goals that matter most to you in your Career journey. #Coaching #Mentoring #CareerDevelopment #ExecutiveCoaching #SelfLeadership #Empowerment #ProfessionalGrowth #Mentorship

Coaching for Organization Coaching is now a new trend, not only for personal but it has also been used as well in organization. So why is it and what is the difference with other personnel development? Many might have confused the terms of coaching, counselling, consulting, mentoring, or even training, as sometimes, the word just pumps out without knowing the differences, but more to discuss an issue or situation. So, let’s discuss each one to understand which is suitable for what situation. Coaching is an approach for the development of an individual, or it could also be conducted in group or with the team. The main point for coaching is the setting is made with focused and purposeful conversation with the aim to enhance the performance. The individual who we refer to as client or coachee, is the one who will be active in the discussion exploring the option/potential. The coach will work by asking insightful questions, offering hypotheses, broaden perspective and assist the coachee in finding clarity and insight to the agenda they are exploring. 1 of 3 #coaching #coach #clients

In coaching, it is key to set #goals for the overall coaching period as well as for the specific coaching session ahead. While more senior clients and executives come with fair clarity on what they need to achieve and where they would like to move ahead in partnership with the coach, with younger clients, even goal setting is a coaching topic. Looking within and figuring out priorities and areas of desired progress itself requires a level of introspection not given to most. In my younger years, when my seniors said 'let me coach you' they would sit me down and advice. Now, as a credentialed coach, I see true coaching as invaluable for clients at all stages in life to enable THEM to shine a torch, no, a LASER into their internal fog of notions, biases, labels, judgments and self-limiting beliefs and emerge clearer and freer. Empowered to tap more fully into their true potential. Even in #mentoring initiatives, I make it a point as a mentor to, with client permission, move first with coaching, then follow up with customised mentoring if needed. There have been sessions where my mentee client, expecting advice, asks nothing at the end of a coaching session. His answers have come from within. It is truly amazing to both client and coach to see this happen! Would you like to see this happen for yourself? Let’s connect at https://lnkd.in/gSik2D_Z. Coaching: A Tool, Not the Whole Toolbox In the coaching world, it’s vital to understand that coaching is just one tool in a broader toolkit. While coaching is essential for developing individuals, it differs from teaching, mentoring, consulting, and counseling. Each of these approaches serves its purpose, but coaching uniquely empowers clients to discover their own solutions and foster personal growth. However, there are times when clients need more than just coaching. As a coach, it’s crucial to have clarity about what you’re offering and to maintain a firm grip on your expertise. This means being well-versed in various services and being able to integrate them effectively into your coaching practice. You’re not just a sounding board; you’re an expert who can provide concrete guidance and value. Clients are paying for the experience of being with you, not just for the process. They invest in you as a person, which means you come with all your tools—the “big guns”—to activate the best outcomes. By combining your coaching skills with your background in corporate environments, philosophical insights, and leadership experience, you can carve out a unique niche that attracts clients seeking those specific services. The key to success lies in being aware of which tool to use for each situation. You must understand what will benefit your clients the most and strive for excellence in every aspect of your work. By mastering coaching and other approaches, you create a rich, impactful experience for your clients, helping them achieve their goals while building a robust coaching practice. #coaching #Mentoring #ExecutiveCoaching

I'm amazed when people try to accomplish anything without benefiting from the wisdom of someone who is ahead of them in the journey. Training, coaching/mentoring can make a huge difference in how productive people can be with the time they have. The value of mentorship, training, and coaching can't be overstated. When people have the guidance of someone who's already navigated the path they're on, they can avoid common pitfalls, accelerate their learning, and achieve higher levels of success. It's like having a map in unfamiliar territory; you can get to your destination much more efficiently and effectively. Moreover, doing something well often requires an understanding of nuances that might not be immediately obvious to beginners. A mentor or coach can offer insights and feedback that help refine skills and approaches, leading to better outcomes. The time invested in learning from others who have more experience is time well spent, and it often pays off in greater productivity and satisfaction in the long run. When you're with the wrong people asking the wrong questions, you're wasting your time. When you're with the right people asking the wrong questions, you're wasting their time. When you're with the wrong people asking the right questions, you're spending time BUT when you're with the right people asking the right questions you're investing your time! This emphasizes the importance of being intentional about both the company we keep and the conversations we engage in. It suggests that meaningful progress and growth occur when we surround ourselves with the right people and focus on the right questions, turning time spent into a valuable investment rather than a wasted effort. Wishing you a very fruitful week ahead. 😊 #IfItsWorthDoing #ItsWorthDoingWell #SeekGuidance #Mentoring #Coaching #Training #BeWithTheRightPeople #EngageInTheRightConversation #SEUNSPEAKS.
