Looking for a way to help support the emotional health of kiddos battling rare diseases and support a local area youth leadership board? KC4K, Kids Caring For Kids, a local non-profit youth leadership board had an amazing idea to stuff zebras and send them out to kiddos battling rare diseases in the month of February! Did you know? February is a month to raise awareness of over 7,000 rare diseases. Every single zebra in the world has a unique pattern. The zebra is the official mascot for rare disease patients. Historically, medical professionals were told that when they “hear hoofbeats,” they should not expect to see a zebra. In other words, look for the more common answer, a horse. Now, we know that one in ten Americans is actually a zebra! If you would like to sponsor a zebra please complete the form below. If you are local and would like to include a handwritten card or picture with the zebra please reach out and I would love to connect! If you are interested in learning more about the foundation or the youth leadership board don't hesitate to reach out. I LOVE to talk about how my team is working to help others. https://lnkd.in/enfNsWJm

A Victory for Survivors and Historic Progress in Athlete Safety 🏅✨ Three years of tireless advocacy. Two years of listening sessions with survivors. Writing, rewriting, negotiating with National Governing Bodies and Congress. Countless trips to Washington, D.C. Today, it all comes together. The bipartisan Safer Sports for Athletes Act is being introduced in Congress—a monumental step forward in protecting athletes from abuse and strengthening investigative processes at the U.S. Center for SafeSport. This bill isn’t just abstract reform. It’s policy shaped directly by survivors and athletes—a promise to every survivor who felt unheard and to every athlete who lost trust in the systems meant to protect them. The bill ensures: ✔️ Enhanced Investigations: Fair, trauma-informed processes. ✔️ Survivor Support: Access to critical resources and care. ✔️ Prevention Methods: Reforms to create safer sports environments. As the founder and president of The Army of Survivors, this work is deeply personal. Like many survivors, I once trusted institutions designed to protect athletes, only to have that trust broken. This bill is about more than fixing systems—it’s about honoring the courage of survivors and ensuring no one else endures the same pain. This achievement is built on the bravery of over 150 survivors who shared their stories, the dedication of advocates, and the persistence of congressional champions who stood by us. Today, we celebrate their voices, their resilience, and their strength. But this is only the beginning. Passing this bill into law will require continued advocacy, resources, and support. 💙 Please consider donating to The Army of Survivors to help us continue this vital work. Together, we can ensure this bill becomes law and create a future where every athlete is safe, supported, and believed. 👉 Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gKnVGxYV #SaferSportsAct #AthleteSafety #EndAbuseInSports #TheArmyofSurvivors #AdvocacyInAction

Have you ever found yourself charmed by the whimsical nature of a good naming contest? In a tent naming contest - would you name your candidate - Tenty McTentface? How About...... Tent to Table? Little Broad Street Market? The Pavilion? The Farmer's Phoenix? The Pennsylvania market currently holding a contest to 'Name their Tent' has certainly captured my attention, especially with “Tenty McTentface” being among the top five finalists. Throwing back to the “Boaty McBoatface” saga that took the internet by storm a few years ago. As a marketer, I can't help but appreciate the engagement and buzz these naming contests generate. They create a fun and inclusive way for communities to come together and leave a lasting imprint on a project. What are your thoughts on using naming contests as a marketing tool? Personally, seeing "Tenty McTentface" in the running makes me want to buy a Boaty McBoatface shirt to support scientific research and embrace a little silliness. Do you prefer a more traditional name or a touch of humor in your day-to-day? I will tell you that Boaty McBoatface is the ONLY autonomous underwater vehicle that maps the movement of deep waters that play a vital role in regulating the Earth's climate that I know the name of. The contest raised scientific awareness and had a positive effect on funding and donations.

This Holiday Weekend marked the LAST DAY of the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer. This period begins on Memorial Day every year and marks the period when, statistically, teen drivers are most likely to die in a car crash. Or, as BIAAZ knows all too well, teenage survivors of vehicle accidents become lifelong brain injury survivors. We happily added our voice to those of a coalition of nonprofits that aimed to make teens safer during this fraught part of summer. And we’re not alone! Happily, we can end this awareness campaign on a bright note by announcing The 100 Safest Days campaign—the new name for this extraordinary awareness campaign to keep teen drivers safe. We fully support @We Save Lives, the organization driving this vital movement's impetus. If you or your organization want to join BIAAZ’s advocacy efforts in keeping teens safe during the 100 Safest Days campaign next year, visit biaaz.org and click contact us. Here’s some more information on the NEW teen driver safety awareness campaign: https://lnkd.in/gEYhjQDk -

Over on Facebook, I'm engaged in a massive task: A-Z tagging people I've known for years, and asking them to donate to Project REAL by April 24 with personal messages to nearly all of them. If 400 people agree to donate $25 or more, we will unlock a $10,000 match challenge from the Nevada Bar Foundation and serve 8,000 additional students with printed copies of our Adulting 101 guides (which you can view at https://lnkd.in/gAgZajrg ). This is not what I had in mind for fundraising when I took on the role of Executive Director, but it's where we're at in the moment, and if that's what it takes to make PARADIGM SHIFTING work for young adults in the U.S. happen, then that's what I'm doing. Want to find out just what I mean by a paradigm shift? Reach out and let's reconnect. First though, if you're able to, please donate at https://lnkd.in/grqTkMAu . If you want a 7 minute explanation without having to connect directly right now though? Well...see below: https://lnkd.in/g6eMFSEW
TL/DR: Been trying to unlock $10K of matching-funds to print 8,000 more Adulting101 guides for Project REAL. I'm @ $200 / $10,000 and a deadline this... | By MikeFacebook

Yesterday was an epic day for our Cambridge Room as we finally achieved charitable status. I think I am right in saying we are the only charity in the Urban Room Network. Is that right Carolyn Butterworth Diane Dever ? If so I am not surprised as it was quite a business convincing the charities commission that our purpose is indeed charitable. We did this by combining key learning from the Farrell Review and Max Farrell with aspects of the Citizenship national curriculum (thanks Anthony Carpen for your education on this). Maybe our 'objects' didn't come out as elegant as we might like but they are a true co-production (also with the Charities Commission) and I think they hit the spot. So, just in case you are thinking about setting up an urban room charity, the 'objects are for the public benefit in Cambridge and the surrounding region: 1. To advance education for the public benefit in the planning and design of built environments and their impact on physical and mental health; 2. To promote good citizenship for the public benefit by encouraging and facilitating participation by the public in democratic and legal processes of the planning system, including through research, and the publication of the useful results of such research, in improving the reach and quality of public participation in the planning and design of the built environment to ensure that a diversity of voices are heard, in particular those from marginalised groups; 3. To develop capacity and skills, particularly of socially and economically disadvantaged groups in the region, in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society.' And so we are open for business for inclusive, transparent, excellent Quality of Life Foundation level community consultation with a memory. We've been written into the Cambridge City Council and South Cams Statement of Community Involvement. Do keep us in mind if you are working in this area.
