Let’s talk about recognizing team members who are excelling! Everyone appreciates a little recognition for their hard work, right? 🤩 How do you show your appreciation? Do you write a heartfelt note? Offer a gift card? Or perhaps you have a formal policy where anyone on the team can commend their colleagues for outstanding performance, even if it goes unnoticed by management. In my experience, a combination of all these methods can be incredibly effective. I have been watching the US version of The Office in the evenings whilst the wife has been stuck into her I'm a Celebrity and the more I watch, the more I feel that behind the comedy and mishaps at Dunder Mifflin are some amazing insights in to good business practice: Employee Motivation / Innovative Marketing / Negotiation Skills / Adaptability / Employee recognition & development / Diversity & inclusion - so, so many great examples. My favourite and one I have used recently is the part of Season 3 episode 13 'Travelling salesman' where when Jim is pitching, Dwight calls the customer service number of both the competition and DM. The competition call gets put on hold and is a 26 minute wait - whilst DM gets answers by an enthusiastic Kelly. To me, this isn't about just about a perfect example of good customer service, but it also shows the prospective client about how he should be treated if they partner together. That is one of the great things about OCP - We put the partner first in as many aspects of the business as possible.
