An adieu to my McDonald's journey!
For the past two years, I've had the incredible opportunity to serve as a Beanie (McCafe) at McDonald's and what a journey it has been. As I move on to a new turn, I'm taking a moment to look back and express gratitude for the invaluable experiences and lessons I've gained along the way
When I started working part-time, I was among the rare few around my surroundings who took on an employment alongside college. My vision and belief in being independent was the reason behind this. Balancing work with other commitments was a challenge I wholeheartedly embraced. I remember rushing after work for the 17km journey to college on weekdays. It was demanding, exhausting, but ultimately motivating, teaching me the priorities.
From refining the art of brewing perfect espresso shot to mastering the art of multidoings during the morning rush, my time at McDonald's has been transformative and full of experiences. I've gained a deeper understanding of time management, teamwork, and adaptability, which I know will be integral to my professional methodology moving forward.
Beyond just taking orders or making them, I found joy in engaging with customers on a personal level, offering thoughts, and having conversations about topics we all connected with. Whether it was surprising the kids or any other.
Nevertheless, my curiosity and eagerness to understand everything that goes into delivering service in 120 seconds drove me to read and try to understand on-the-job modules of the management team, going above the bare minimum of what my designation required.
Throughout my time at McDonald's, I've had the opportunity to observe various aspects of operations closely, understanding the gaps, strengths, and opportunities. Recognizing and addressing these opportunities are essential for providing continuous improvement and innovation not just for McDonald's but for any other workspace
There are hard times and hardest of times, enough to change and in the mix of both good and bad times, I value and appreciate the support I received from the good people of management which had both good and bad. Experiencing conflicts with managers yet standing for what is right was my constant act. Even though these disagreements sometimes led to tough consequences but remaining steadfast to the integrity I carry always has been my priority
Moreover, I've come to realize that the value of work isn't determined by its status or prestige, rather by the dedication, passion, and effort put into it. I believe not necessarily a higher age or designation makes someone inherently right. It’s okay to be corrected. Every job, including my role as a Beanie at McDonald's, contributes immensely to the smooth functioning of a large demand and supply chain
Thank you, McDonald's Thankyou Westlife Foodworld Limited for an unforgettable timeline that have endless stories to count!
