With partnerships like Milence (with TRATON GROUP, Daimler Truck AG, and Volvo Group) and our cooperation with E.ON, we're leading the charging revolution forward: 🚛 The first truck charging park in Antwerp is LIVE, with plans for 1,700 charging points. By 2030, we’ll need 50,000!  🌍 Together with E.ON, we’re setting up 170 charging locations across Europe, including Austria, the UK, Denmark, Italy, Poland, and beyond. The #eActros600TestingTour officially started in Frankfurt/Main - The intention is for two near-series prototypes of the battery-electric long-haul truck to travel across more than 20 European countries, each completing more than 13,000 kilometers with 40 tons total towing weight. ⭐🚛🔋 With this venture, we're pursuing the objective of gaining extensive experience on a wide range of routes in different topographies and climate zones with an eye on energy consumption. Mercedes-Benz Trucks intends to then share these findings with interested customers. Secondly, Mercedes-Benz Trucks wants to use the tour to prove that our eActros 600 makes purely battery-electric, transnational long-distance haulage possible in Europe. 🚊 Addressing Key Challenges in the Rail Industry: A Path Forward with TrackLink3... Continuing my series of posts on Tracklink3 in the run up to InnoTrans, I wanted to take an opportunity to look at one of the key challenges facing the Rail Industry and how we can support finding a solution. The challenge? Decarbonisation. As we move forward in an increasingly decarbonised world we have a huge opportunity in rail to make a significant contribution. Namely, looking at the fuel sources we use to move our vehicle sets. Whether it's Hydrogen, Battery Powered or Overhead Lines there are plenty of alternatives to Diesel out there but there are difficulties with all, especially when it comes to efficiency. Step up TrackLink3. We are already at the forefront of this challenge by using TrackLink3 to provide our Automatic Power Change Over solution. By automating the raising and lowering of the pantograph not only are we securing a previously manual operation we are allowing more hybrid vehicles to run on partially electrified areas of the network. The SIL2 accuracy of our TrackLink3 system ensure that we can keep vehicles moving at speed whilst safely engaging the pantograph - driving up safety standards and improving timetabling. When it comes to hybrid vehicles this technology can also be used to automatically switch between fuel sources, maximising fuel efficiency of multi-source hybrids. Again, all in the name of maximising efficiency. Did you know that the first motorized omnibus was introduced over 120 years ago? In 1895, a German company Benz introduced the Benz Omnibus, the first motorized bus. It had a capacity for only eight passengers and a top speed of 15 km/h (9 mph). Compare that to today’s electric buses, which can transport hundreds of passengers at higher speeds with zero emissions.
