Job interviews - should employers share interview questions in advance? I read a very interesting article on the RTE news website over the weekend which I have copied below. A large retailer in the UK has decided to make all the questions that it will ask at interviews available to anyone who wants to apply. Anyone who has ever done an interview knows that they can be very daunting and that some people are very good at interviews, while others find them incredibly stressful, and therefore do not come across well in them. The article quoted a career psychologist who said that ''there is limited predictive ability in interviews with performance, this meant that the person who performs really well won't necessarily be the best person for the job''. So giving candidates the interview questions in advance may make the process less stressful for all candidates, therefore leading to a more level playing field, and selection of the most suitable candidate. Well done John Lewis & Partners 👏 I am 100% in favour of anything which supports candidates through a recruitment process, and ultimately results in someone getting a role which suits their skills, knowledge and aspiration - and at the same time, an organisation securing a talented individual who will contribute to the success of their business. The thing is, that some organisations (and hiring managers) seem to believe that an interview process has to be a difficult thing in order to sort the 'wheat from the chaff', rather than a supportive process which is aimed at getting the best out of each individual who is taking part in it. Following John Lewis' lead, and sharing the interview questions beforehand is a great leap forward in terms of helping people to really be the best version of themselves in an interview - and not, as some people would conclude, the equivalent of giving the exam questions prior to the exam itself. Why not let people have the preparation time to consider their best answers, and then be prepared to answer supplementary questions on the day? There are obvious benefits for neuro-divergant candidates, but I would strongly argue that everyone (including the interviewer/s) would benefit too ... At Intuitive Talent Solutions, the Talent Team carry out in depth preparation conversations with each of our candidates prior to them attending interviews with our clients, as we believe that this support helps them to perform at their best on the day. What happens in your organisation to make things more supportive for candidates throughout the attraction and recruitment process? #recruitment #executivesearch #interimrecruitment #transport #inclusiveleadership #inclusiverecruitment

In a competitive talent market, companies are innovating their application and interview processes to attract and keep top talent. I recently came across a brilliant example of this by John Lewis & Partners, who have taken the bold step of publishing their interview questions online. Their aim is to ease candidate nerves and streamline the recruitment process, ensuring they find the right people from diverse backgrounds. As more companies adopt transparent and supportive recruitment practises, candidates are better prepared and more confident, ultimately benefiting both the employers and the job seekers. Seen anything similar in the market? Please share it in the comments below. #careers #talentacquisition #interviews #recruitment

During the job application process, it's typically the interviewee who feels pressure to impress the interviewer, but in a market where the competition for talent is fierce, the tables turn... Employers must make sure the interview experience is a positive one for prospective employees, or risk losing out on talent from the word go. The proof is in the pudding: over half of professionals across Northern Ireland were deterred from an employer due to a poor interview experience. In this article published by the Belfast Telegraph, I explore insights from our latest research which illustrates the importance of creating a positive application process for jobseekers today: https://lnkd.in/dCuEZcbf #interview #jobapplication #recruitment #workingforyourtomorrow

Interviews aren’t just about candidates proving their worth, they’re equally about companies showcasing why they’re the best place to work. Top talent has CHOICES. 👀 The best candidates often have multiple offers on the table. Demonstrating your company’s strengths, culture, and opportunities can be the deciding factor for these candidates. E-v-e-r-y interaction during the interview process reflects your company’s brand. 2 weeks for CV feedback, rescheduling interviews last minute, unwillingness to negotiate to secure a candidate, the candidate needs to buy into you as much as you buy into them. --------------------------------------- These interviews are not just about skills and qualifications; they’re about fit. The interview process is the first glimpse candidates get of what it’s like to work with you. Showcasing your team’s professionalism, enthusiasm, and commitment sets the stage for a strong, collaborative working relationship. When candidates feel valued and excited about your company from the start, they’re more likely to accept offers and commit to your business, not only that but you're setting the foundation for long-term retention. The interview process is a two-way street. Just as you evaluate candidates, they’re evaluating you. Actively sell your company!!!! 😩 That way you ensure that the best talent not only chooses you but also thrives within your business. Let’s discuss HOW I can enhance your recruitment strategy and interview process. #recruitment #compliancejobs #interviewprocess #interviewprep #marketingjobs #jobsinrecruitment
