It's hard to turn the multi-trillion dollar ship that is the human economy on Earth, but everybody should at least be trying. I'm encouraged by Cargill's effort--a global player--to shift agricultural production toward an ecological model of soil regeneration and carbon sequestration. Spill-over benefits include cleaner water, healthier soil, lower chemical inputs, and (in theory) greater profitability for farmers by reducing input costs.

What do Regenerative Farmers need exactly? This question came up on LinkedIn a few weeks ago. It is a misconception that the problem lies on the farmer's plate. The real problem is: Why are farmers not picking up Regenerative Agriculture when it has so many benefits?  To foster the transition, what the regenerative farmers really need is recognition and support in the supply chain. I had the pleasure of joining the #RegenHouse conversation around the kitchen table on Scaling Regenerative Agriculture 🌱. Together with Ethan Soloviev, Mary Jane Melendez, Facundo Etchebehere, and Juan Gabriel Aguiriano Nalda, we gathered around a small table covered with fresh produce from the farm, to dive into real-time strategies, successes, and challenges. Each of us posed questions to our group based on our unique role in the supply chain, sparking meaningful discussions about the future of regenerative agriculture 🌍. From the retailer’s perspective, I spoke about the complexity of supply chains—better described as *value webs*—and the opportunity we have to create consensus on a common set of definitions, standards, and certifications to help retailers accelerate 🌾. Long-term partnerships, like the Better For Nature and Farming program from our Dutch brand and our Regen Ag partnership with General Mills support farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture in key sourcing locations.
