Today we announced Blackmagic Replay, a new way of creating live action replays for broadcasters. Blackmagic Replay is totally unique because it uses multiple HyperDecks to record into shared storage, while DaVinci Resolve is connected to the same shared storage as a powerful playback engine. However, the true power comes from having DaVinci Resolve handle the playback. That’s because it’s not just replay, but an extremely powerful editor with multi user collaboration features. Plus color correction, visual effects and audio post production. Now replays can be converted into promos, title sequences and instant social media updates. Sharing technical solutions is really difficult, especially when everyone has a different opinion on how to do it. Here's what went through my head: - I'm not enough of an expert. Will the real experts leave nasty comments? - Wow, this video is really long. No one will even watch it. - Is this too niche for anyone to even care? And yet, the video on matching broadcast cameras has picked up more engagement than most videos I've made for the LiveX YouTube channel. All of the comments have been positive or constructive. This community is relatively niche, so reaching 1.5k+ viewers in a video about camera matching was surprising to me. Content algorithms work in weird ways. Imagine having video equipment that's like a Swiss Army knife – easy to carry, adapts to any situation, and can do just about anything.  That's what Lee and our team at LH Video created when they decided to make some of our video assist systems modular.  You may be asking yourself " Modular? What do you mean by that?" Well if you check out the picture below, you will see that we have two cases stacked on top of one another. One of them is our QTAKE Video Assist System, and the other is our local streaming setup so that the crew can view on their Apple devices. As sweet as that is, not all jobs require local or cloud streaming. Or maybe you're filming in a tiny room, climbing lots of stairs or hiking up a small mountain.  No problem.  That's exactly why we've made our systems flexible enough for whatever you need. Our modular system can easily be broken down and it's even easier to move around, even in tight spaces.  Not every video needs to be streamed live to the whole world, and some of our operators need equipment that can fit in their vehicle -- so we built the system to be broken down and put back together without a hitch. It can also be carried upstairs in buildings that have no elevators or a rooftop, making it more manageable for the operator.  It all resides on an Inovativ cart, and we also use the Upgrade Innovations Whaley Rail to mount the Access Points for local streaming and the Teradek receiver for the camera signal. As you can see, it's a pretty sweet setup. You don’t need 2-3 cameras to record your videos. To make it more engaging try recording in this manner: 1. Set the camera and record a wide shot 2. Say the first part of your video 3. Pause, and move into the next position 4. Start speaking again and repeat. 5. Then when you edit, take out the silences, the result will come up like the video above. 6. Tag someone who’d want to try this!
