The research conducted for the Medical Leaders for Current and Future Health Care report was informed by the 5+9 model, which identifies five key healthcare trends to 2030 and nine areas to drive system improvement. The 5+9 model, identified by Braithwaite and a cohort of 148 international colleagues across 152 countries, is outlined in the article, ‘Beyond the aspirational: creating the future of health care in Australia’: https://lnkd.in/gKZnBDAZ The five trends, it is predicted, will impact health systems over this decade. The nine areas to drive system improvement are ubiquitous, with all health systems working toward them in varying degrees, with different emphases depending on the system. Read the Medical Leaders for Current and Future Health Care report to explore how these trends and areas for improvement emerged in the research. We can’t reach a connected health system until we’ve figured out how to bridge the digital divide. Understanding a patient’s digital health readiness is an important step. An article in JAMA Network Open discusses a screening tool that can quantify an individual’s digital health readiness—specifically, their ability to use digital health tools. The researchers note that the tool can help providers offer digital health support to address specific barriers to virtual healthcare use. #FutureofHealth #DigitalHealth https://lnkd.in/eZ2V_B2C

With so many resources at our fingertips, knowing where to find trusted health information is more important than ever. However, as highlighted in this Patient Information Forum (PIF) and Ipsos report, too many UK adults are struggling to find information they can trust. 1 in 10 adults in the UK report being personally affected by health misinformation, and this figure rises to 1 in 5 among ethnic minorities. This disparity underscores the urgent need to tackle health misinformation and address health inequalities across the UK.
We have teamed up with Ipsos UK to publish new research into health information access across the UK. Knowledge is Power offers new insights on information access, trusted sources, communication with healthcare professionals and the impact of misinformation. The report reveals the demand for the NHS to signpost trusted information and wide support for the verification of health information. Knowledge is Power makes five recommendations on the right to health information. All recommendations are aligned with the three shifts proposed in the NHS 10-year plan.
