Resilience is what we need to be focused on. Not rebates. Not heat pumps. Consumers CAN understand the value of resilience if you give them the opportunity and agency to make long term decisions for their families. The leaders of the industry need to stand against reductive narrative and inadequate business models, collaborate on new messaging, then saturate the airwaves with it. #resilience #betterhvac #hvac #incentives #homeowners #servicebusiness #policy

Industrial decarbonisation is a tricky part of the energy transition, but it is essential in helping to tackle the climate crisis, boosting competitiveness and preserving jobs. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, with different technologies, including heat pumps and green fuels, potentially playing a role. Antoine Koen from think tank Future Cleantech Architects joins Kira Taylor on The Jolt to preview his paper about industrial decarbonisation, which will be released tomorrow. Plus get a sneak peek at an episode of Watt Matters with Richard Hart from The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) for an Energy-Efficient Economy on the topic. The European Union has adopted the European Critical Raw Materials Act, which came into force on 23 May last. This act aims to increase and diversify the EU’s critical raw materials supply, strengthen recycling, and support research and innovation. So why is this important? Well in the latest episode of the #Science4Parliament podcast I am delighted to have Dr Aoife Braiden from the Geological Survey Ireland (GSI) back to explain its importance to listeners. The reality is that as we move towards clean energy systems, our demand for raw materials like base metals and rare earths is set to skyrocket. These materials are essential for building local production of batteries, solar panels, and other clean tech. The act is a crucial step in our green transition and will help strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy.
