🚨Important Update for Massachusetts Municipalities!🚨 According to a recent report from the Massachusetts Municipal Association (MMA), the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities has completed a nearly year-long investigation and issued uniform guidelines for approving future municipal aggregation plans. Through an aggregation program, municipalities can purchase electricity in bulk from investor-owned utilities on behalf of their residents, providing competitive pricing, increased renewable energy content, and price stability for the community. This is a huge step towards more sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions for Massachusetts towns and cities! Today’s the day we open our phonelines to take complaints from landholders and community members impacted by #RenewableEnergyInfrastructure with EnergyCo and #ACEREZ becoming members of EWON. We’ll provide a free, independent dispute resolution service for residents dissatisfied with how their complaints are handled by EnergyCo or ACEREZ, as well as Transgrid who is already a member of EWON. Energy & Water Ombudsman Janine Young GAICD said the Renewable Energy Zone projects will progress NSW Government #NetZero targets for #2030 and #2050. “We can’t stop or delay these projects, but we can help people navigate the maze of different organisations that are involved in getting the transmission and network infrastructure delivered.” Our new function provides a #nowrongdoor referral service for community members, connecting them with the most appropriate channels to address their complaints if they fall outside the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction. Initially, our #newjurisdiction will extend to renewable energy transmission infrastructure only. Further expansion into renewable generation and storage, such as solar and wind farms and large-scale battery storage, will be explored in 2025. Several states have enacted laws to enable community solar programs and require utilities to incorporate them into their energy portfolios. Some states mandate specific community solar installation targets with set deadlines, while others provide funding for these projects. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory's January 2022 data shows that over 70% of U.S. community solar capacity is concentrated in Florida, Minnesota, New York, and Massachusetts. Notably, significant community solar development has occurred in states like Florida, where no related legislation exists, driven by utilities and power cooperatives independently. The sector's rapid growth in the past two years suggests that these figures have likely changed (CNet). Are solar panels worth it in Connecticut? Absolutely! Connecticut has some of the highest electricity rates in the country, making solar panels an attractive investment for those looking to save on their energy bills. By generating your own clean energy, you can significantly reduce or even eliminate your electricity costs. The state also offers generous solar incentives, including tax credits and rebates, which can help offset installation expenses and accelerate your return on investment. Beyond the financial benefits, solar panels contribute to a greener environment by producing renewable energy, reducing your carbon footprint, and supporting a more sustainable future. If you're looking to save money and make an eco-friendly choice, solar panels in Connecticut are definitely worth investing – of course, with PurePoint Energy. There has been much discussion recently about the energy crisis in NZ. In this article on Architecture Now, we explore the crucial role architects can play in the energy transition through decentralized power generation and energy efficiency: https://lnkd.in/gEXU39-H The way we implement solar energy matters, and we have significant opportunities to decentralise and decarbonize systems. While large renewable energy projects are effective in reducing emissions, they miss the chance to bring energy generation closer to where it is used. Integrating power into our communities would enhance resilience, an important consideration in a country prone to multiple natural disasters. Even though solar panels have become significantly more affordable, not everyone might have access to them, and there can be a significant divide in the energy transition, particularly for renters. Implementing renewable energy solutions in public buildings, such as schools, would help ensure that each community has at least one point of basic access to energy in case of power outages. Thanks Andrew Burgess and Kyle Paala for collaborating on this! #solarpower #NZenergycrisis #resilientcommunities #climateadaptation #decentralisedenergy #solarenergy #energyefficiency
