What are the biggest challenges you've faced as an angel investor, and how did you overcome them? Angel investors back startups early on, based on trust in the founder and idea. This is risky due to uncertain outcomes. Concerns: - No oversight on spending or timeline. - Startup plans and ideas aren't verified. - Lack of updates from the founder. Solutions: Hire a team for: - Checking if spending aligns with plans. - Independent idea validation. - Assessing future strategies. This approach aims to secure investments by ensuring startups stay on track and transparent. Let me know what strategies would you apply in such a scenario and do share this with angel investors you know. #AngelInvesting #StartupFunding #InvestmentStrategies #Networking #startupindia #business #financialmanagement

I’m giving you an example of a pre-seed startup funding round in figures and as a process (pre-seed: the first funding round). After designing the best possible profile of an investor (be careful here and give it a lot of time) do a short list of at least 100 potential investors matching the selected profile. 1. 80-100 shortlisted potential investors 2. 40-60 1st meetings (50%) 3. 20-40 2nd meetings (50%) 4. 10-15 closed investments (40%) Just an example. If you know the absolutely best investors with the best potential match: then you probably can have just 10+ meetings to close the round. But that is rare especially these times. And the better you do the homework before even starting any investor discussions (revenue, deck, strategy work, team building, advisors etc.) the better results you get. #startup #startupfunding #angelinvestors #venturecapital #startupfounders

Founders, Split Equity Wisely. Oftentimes, to avoid conflict, founders decide to split up equally. However, that might be the wrong different contributions to the Cap Table. 50/50 Split can result in a deadlock on important decisions. I highly recommend to all my Startup founders to discuss equity splits even before you start working on your idea with your co-founders. Top Key Points to consider before Equity Split: - Time & Cash Investment - Idea Development - CEO Role - Vesting Period - Employee Option Pool Discussing these key points beforehand can help in building, and growing startups more effectively, and efficiently. #Startup #Equity #Investment #Startupca #Keyconsideration

🚨 How Stuck is the Startup Exit Market? 🚨 Startup exits—when investors or founders cash out their equity stake in a startup by selling the company or going public—are crucial for investors to see returns on their investments. 💸 Without exits, investors’ money stays tied up, which means fewer returns for them and less funding available for new startups. 🫣🛑 PitchBook’s latest report shows just how serious the slowdown is: 📉 Cash returns to limited partners (the people who fund VCs) have dropped to levels not seen since the global financial crisis. 🚨 The number of VCs and angel investors investing in startups this year is just 45.5% of 2021 levels. 💡 VCs are sitting on unicorns valued at $2.5 trillion, but nearly 40% of these have been in their portfolios for 9+ years! And the backlog of companies awaiting exit? A record-breaking 57,674—with late-stage companies making up 32.4% of those. It’s a big pressure point for the startup ecosystem. This is just so so true and something I advise 10s of startup founders day in and day out. They just conjure up an idea, a plan a fancy pitch deck and need investor meetings - like going to a shopping mall for window shopping. So wrong! Startups often rush into investor meetings without a solidified narrative, a trend that overlooks the crucial foundation of any successful pitch. It’s essential to ensure your story not only resonates but is robust before seeking investment. Premature discussions can lead to misaligned expectations and lost opportunities. Let's put substance before spectacle and get the narrative right first. #startup #india #founders
