An estimated 37% of children with one or more sibling, who are placed in care are separated – that is over 20,000 children. Keeping families together is extremely important, however, due to a national shortage of foster carers with multiple room availability, siblings are sometimes separated. Fostering sibling groups can help children and young people to settle into their new home more quickly as they have someone they know and love by their side. 🌍🏡 Building a Better Future 🏡🌍 At Habitat for Humanity România , we ensure that we select the most suitable families for our housing programs through our 3 Pillars. At the end of our surveys, we have to make a difficult decision: some families will be part of our program, while others may have to wait. 🔑 The 3 Pillars: 1. The Urgency of the Need: We prioritize families facing critical housing issues, ensuring that those in the most urgent situations receive the support they need for a safe and stable home. 2. Income Criteria: We partner with families whose income is lower than 60% of the national median income. This ensures we are helping those in genuine need who might otherwise struggle to afford a home. 3. Sweat Equity: Partner families contribute their own labor, known as "sweat equity," by volunteering in the construction of their homes and others.
