I’m honored to share a successful completion of the “Global Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility: Be Sustainable” course offered by Macquarie University. ✨ Course Highlights: In this enlightening course, I delved into the critical intersection of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Here are some key takeaways: 💠1) Drivers for Sustainability: I explored the factors that have given rise to the concept of sustainability. Understanding these drivers is crucial for businesses aiming to create a positive impact on our planet. 💠 2) Ethical, Social, and Environmental Issues: The course provided insights into the diverse range of ethical, social, and environmental issues contained within the sustainability framework. I wouldn’t normally be on LinkedIn on a Sunday (#boundaries 🤩) but keen to share this important report from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) authored by Lindsay Hooper and Paul Gilding. 📣 I spoke recently about the power of strategic communications to effect positive change and this brilliantly written and well-executed report clearly articulates the case for ‘whole economy transition’ and the need for businesses to shift from trying to put ‘sustainability thinking’ into business and instead start putting ‘business thinking’ into sustainability. The authors argue the need to shift to an agenda of competitive sustainability. 👇🏾Having made the very intentional move back to the private sector from the public sector (via a not-for-profit) eight years ago, I welcome this report and urge my network to download it and share with those who have the influence and opportunity to effect change.
