Something interesting for soccer enthusiasts. Trace provides soccer coaches with recording gear and an AI system that analyzes game film. Players wear a tracking device, called a Tracer, while its specially designed camera records the game. The AI bot then takes that footage and stitches together all of the most important moments in a game—from shots on goal to defensive lapses and more. This technology allows coaches and players to have more detailed insights from game film. Check https://traceup.com/

In this article Jan Kees Mons, expresses his views on how motion capture will be used in the future of sport. Many sports have been using this technology for a while, recently it was used by the Carlton Football Club in the AFL to fix Harry McKay's kicking technique, a task that for a long time seemed impossible. Jan explains how this technology can be used to not only fix technique, but prevent injury, be used for talent recognition, and used for strategy and tactics. It is an interesting thought Kees Mons explores on how motion capture and algorithms will shape tactics and strategies used by coaches. I wonder if this will adversely impact the watchability of sport. Imagine a game where both teams are using algorithms to determine their tactics, think of two elite chess computers playing each other, the moves might be brilliant but it will inevitably end in a statement.
