Great to see our team working with other waste providers to spread the word about responsible recycling. As we all know, wish-cycling is a problem in New Zealand, with people throwing items in their recycling bin hoping it will be recycled, despite there being no way it can be. Branch Manager Tracy Reuben has shared this video which shows our WM trucks delivering Hutt City Council’s recycling to Oji Fibre Solutions, as well as some very important messages to the public: - Non-recyclable items in the recycling stream can contaminate the entire load, making it unusable. It can also damage the sorting equipment. - Sorting facilities have to spend extra time and resources removing non-recyclables, slowing down the entire recycling process. - There are people who have to deal with the dirty items that you throw into your recycling! https://lnkd.in/gyA22C3q

When it comes to recycling, how we collect it is just as important as what we collect! While Aotearoa New Zealand has standardised the materials collected at kerbside, the way we collect recycling still varies. Some councils still use a co-mingled method (everything in one wheelie bin), which requires additional sorting and means more of your recycling is contaminated and ends up in landfill 😩 So, if you're still chucking your glass into a recycling bin with everything else, and you want to see more of it actually make it to the furnace to be recycled, make sure you let your council and councillors know you want separate glass collection. Together we can divert glass away form landfill! 💪🍾

At Options Management, we don’t just say we recycle – we do it! Watch our video to see how we organise your cans, plastic bottles, and cups for the better. We are also the first to collect your paper cups and process all the recycled material into high-quality fibreboard. All of our products are fully processed in the UK while making sure that we continually aim to reduce our carbon footprint. One way in which Options Management implements strategy towards sustainability is through a company called Save a Cup, who we acquired ownership of in 2012. https://lnkd.in/eu6tEiJS #RecycleWithOptions #SustainableFuture #OptionsManagement #vending #RecycleAwarenessWeek

Pleased to join more than 60 organizations from across the corporate, trade and non-profit sectors to advocate for the passage of crucial bipartisan legislation aimed at transforming U.S. recycling systems. The RIAA and RCAA are integral to strengthening America’s supply chain security and circular economy. As major aluminum industry investments start to come online, it’s critical that our companies have the necessary material to support demand. Recycling more—and recycling better—is one way to ensure our industry is set up for success. We’re honored to be part of a coalition urging Congress to pass two critical bipartisan recycling bills before the end of the year. The Recycling Infrastructure Accessibility Act (RIAA) proposes a pilot program to boost recycling access in underserved and rural areas, while the Recycling Composting Accountability Act (RCAA) seeks to establish guidelines for tracking recycling and composting, facilitating improvements through data-driven strategies. Together, with other leaders in this space, we’re advocating for solutions that are good for the economy, the environment and our domestic supply chains. Educating people about polypropylene recycling is critical. The latest report from The Recycling Partnership highlights why this matters: improving how we recycle polypropylene can prevent tons of plastic from landing in landfills. By investing in community education and smarter recycling systems, we can drive positive environmental change. Recycling polypropylene isn’t just about waste—it’s about creating a sustainable future with less plastic pollution. Let’s advocate for clearer recycling guidelines and support stronger infrastructure. #recycling #sustainability #circulareconomy #recycle https://lnkd.in/e7ggq7si
