Our last Farmer's Market day in 90-degree heat! The chocolate chips in our cookies melted! But, we learned this: Muffins are a big hit. No one else sold them, and we almost sold out. The produce vendor next to us volunteered to give us their fruit for next year so we could make more fruit muffins next year. And, it was so exciting, when customers bought our products, and came back 20 minutes later to buy more because they ate them already! I think working for someone else teaches you a lot. Working for yourself teaches you even more! #Pastrydude, #Farmersmarket, #JohnsonandWales

A bowl with a straw sounded like a ridiculous idea to me... ... but they were all gone when I went to redeem mine! My family of six goes through a LOT of cereal. (When my wife and I are too tired to make a proper dinner, we proclaim that the evening will be "free choice"... and most of our kids choose cereal. My wife and I have four children, and we are tired a lot... so it's not unusual for us to buy 5-6 boxes of cereal every week. Judge us if you must.) As a result of our cereal purchases, we've benefitted from a lot of "FREE" stuff over the years, much of it from General Mills. They give away the best stuff. Lucky Charm towels... Cinnamon Toast Crunch bowls... Cheerios snacking containers... Plastic colour-changing spoons... The list goes on and on and on. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for free stuff. And the online redemption process that the company has put in place makes it really easy to claim your prizes... ... when they have them available, that is. The cereal box states that to get a bowl, you need to purchase one participating cereal box before June 30th, 2024. I tried to redeem my offer on April 11... and the company has already had 25,000 people redeem these bowls by then!* This post is not a complaint. It's the opposite: I'm impressed by how successful this offer has clearly been for the company, especially since it's not something I would have predicted. (Why does a bowl need a straw?? Why not just sip the remaining milk from the edge of the bowl like we've been doing since the dawn of bowls?!?) When it comes to ideas, there aren't any guarantees as to what's going to work and what isn't... ... and that's as great a reason to adopt a test-and-learn mentality as any! (Even if it's a bowl with a straw.) #Marketing #Cereal #Redemption #Offer * It should be noted that the requirement to purchase only a single box of cereal was unusually low. Most of the other stuff I've claimed in the past has required two or three purchases. So this definitiely might have played a part.

Is it too early to talk about *cough* Christmas *cough* packaging? NO! In fact the earlier you nail your festive gift packaging - the sooner you can realise the packaging structure could be repurposed for other seasonal opportunities. There is a difference between not being a priority and not being important. You can still be extremely important even when something else has to take priority in the moment. Think of it this way: in my house, yogurt is more important to us than ice cream, but after doing our grocery shopping (we live in Texas), the ice cream is first priority to put away when we get home. Don’t base your self worth on your current circumstance. You are valuable and important, always. #UnsolicitedAdvice

EDIT: We don't have 500 jars that we can't sell, it is 2544 jars of curry paste that we cannot send to our stockist. After talking to the facility where we manufacture, I went through the entire pallet....almost $20k of stock. So, we don't need help - we need a miracle. We need HELP. Sobhna's last production run didn't go as well as it should have and I have over 500 jars of medium curry paste that have a tiny bit more oil than they should. The taste is still amazing, they still have a one year shelf life and in every way are perfect but for the little extra oil. Instead of 12 serves per jar, they are now probably 8 serves or 2 family meals. I just can't send them out for distribution to our stockists. As a small mother-daughter business, we just cannot afford this loss. So, I am asking our LinkedIn whanau for help. Normally we would use some to make meals for the Food bank (which we are this coming Sunday), but we just have too many jars this time. Even if we could just recoup the cost of making them, it would be saving us! If anyone has any additional contacts that could help, we would really appreciate it... Please like, comment and share our post 🙏 #help #smallbusiness #businesshelp #womeninbusiness #supportlocal

Love this creative idea Tiger Brands.. Making shopping easier for busy people always just makes sense. QR scan the code to get the recipe and shop the ingredients at the shelf. Making that dreaded what's for dinner just so much easier. Also clever cross-merchandising in a different isle and with other ingredients, it can be so simple. Well done All Gold! 🍅🍅🍅🍅 Lee-Anne C. Believe it or not, there are downsides to having a ridiculously creative baker as a husband (other than the obvious 🐽 🤣)... We change our brownie/ blondie flavours every month to reflect the seasons and if I'm perfectly honest with you, I don't think my husband could do this job without this freedom. Working with new ideas and flavours is what keeps his passion alive (particularly when he's leading a team that are creating thousands of units of one flavour per day). This does raise a HUGE problem from a marketing perspective as it would be a false economy for any business to get professional photographs of every product. Don't get me wrong, I firmly believe you need an excellent selection of photographs for an e-commerce website, but social media these days requires almost another direction entirely of content. I have an iPhone SE and I don't know how to use my digital SLR 🦖. So what I have spent a lot of time doing over the summer is studying images of food photography and attempting my best shot at refreshing our social media assets for Q4. We have been working on a brand refresh for quite some time and I'm really keen to incorporate more vibrant colours into our palette. So whilst we nail the direction we want to take the brand in, expect to see more content like the video below which was filmed on a whim yesterday whilst the sun was shining. Every day is a school day! #supportsmallbusiness #corporategifting

🎥🍲 Video: Leak Detection in Action! 🍲🎥 Today, I went to the supermarket to grab some ingredients for a cozy potato soup (it’s quite chilly here!). Of course, bacon is a must-have. But wait, one of the packs looks a bit off, doesn’t it? Gray and not appetizing at all. 🤔 I decided to put both bacon packs to the test with our innovative Contura leak detection system. 🌟 The results? The Contura’s membrane held the packaging in place, and with its non-destructive and waterless testing, it confirmed my suspicion: one of the packages was indeed leaking! 😱 Check out the display showing a leak rate of over 2.5 mbar*l/s. Has this ever happened to you? How do you ensure the quality of your goods? #LeakDetection #QualityControl #FoodSafety #Contura #Innovation #Packaging #BaconLove #SupermarketFinds #PotatoSoupSeason
