I was delighted to spend time at MJ Unpacked with my pal Riel R., a digital marketing #alchemist & guru who helps Canadian Cannabis retailers turn data into gold.
I asked him how he does what he does, what was his #method?
But he didn't even have a #salesdeck to show me.
So how was he so #successful in adding so many new clients?
Here's how: he doesn't use a deck, he just shows historical #client's revenue charts to his prospective clients.
Nearly all the sales charts I saw #flatlined until he got involved, and applied his #unique digital eco-systems. Following his intervention, the revenue lines were usually on 90 degree upward trajectory. No #deck needed with that kind of data.
Here we are below at MJ Unpacked (where Riel is appearing as his alter ego, the Luchador del Cannabis). As well as a marketing guru, he's also a media guru and helped out with the overall #HCN video production at MJ Unpacked.
We had a great old time at MJ Unpacked & were nearly kicked out by the hotel staff for flying a #drone around inside the building during the conference.
Thanks to this #Luchador, we scored loads of fantastic interviews with the movers & #shakers attending the event.
And together, we smoked enough weed to knock over a horse. (See #smiles below).

PS. PLEASE #PRAY for Riel as we wound him up like spring clock, gave him some pep talks, and sent him back up to Canada to ask his company Breadstack—a Cannabis ecommerce & retail tech company—to fork out some #cash to help offset our costs for HCN's coverage of MJBizCon this Dec 3-6th in Las Vegas.
The only minor problem is that Breadstack don't have any business currently in USA. They're Canadian.
But they could dominate their industry niche by sponsoring a video-podcast on the Highly Capitalized Network-HCN. YES!

As an introvert, it's been a draining (but GREAT) past few weeks:
Hall of Flowers in CA - jet lag, plus new to CA market made this one more stressful - but as always, the cannabis community is so welcoming. With tailwinds from HOF + 420 upcoming, Woodstock is on-track for it's best wholesale month EVER (very low bar, but we'll take the small wins to celebrate). Def worthwhile exhibiting there with Lowell Farms Inc..
Techstars Boston Accelerator Mentor Madness (sorry can't say "Magic" just feels wrong). Pulled in a few other alums like Joe Lemay & Max Faingezicht as it's been 10 yrs since I was in the program (yikes!)... and connected with Kerty Levy & Aidan Kittredge and their awesome new class. Not a ton of consumer focus in this batch so not sure how much value I can add - but love a bunch of these companies!
NECANN - biggest cannabis tradeshow in Northeast... not going to the official show (Woodstock isn't in MA YET) - but will be at 1 or 2 of the parties on Fri and look forward to catching up with my former peeps...
One of the things I've realized about my introversion... is that, it's easier if you love what you're doing / you're mission-driven and you surround yourself with great people...
Yes, I still exert a lot of energy at these big events - but I also GET a ton of energy from talking to others about what they're building and seeing people I used to work with and how much they continue to grow & crush.
No more big shows for a while after this Friday... time to recuperate this wkend!
