What is the role of stomata during the curing of cannabis inflorescence? I’ve always been curious about how gas exchange occurs after cannabis flowers are dried. Once the flowers lose a significant amount of water, it’s reasonable to assume that cellular activity slows down or ceases entirely, causing also the stomata* to close. This led me to wonder if the stomata are no longer functional after drying, how do the flowers release or absorb moisture during curing? My hypothesis is that moisture transfer primarily occurs through passive diffusion, as it does with most materials. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. (Image below shows stomata of a cannabis seed - yes, seeds have stomata too:) - - *Definition: Stomata are tiny pores found on the surface of leaves and stems, primarily in plants, that regulate gas exchange. They allow carbon dioxide to enter for photosynthesis and oxygen and water vapor to exit, playing a crucial role in maintaining water balance and facilitating respiration. - - Follow Sven Rachinger for more! #Cannabis #CannabisResearch #Hemp #Horticulture #Flavonoids #Terpenes #Cannabinoids #Education #BetterCannabisThroughResearch #SaferCannabisThroughEducation

Bright orange pistils on cannabis plants are more than just visually stunning—they’re essential indicators of plant maturity and health. As cannabis flowers develop, these pistils change color from white to orange, red, or even brown, signaling the plant's reproductive stages. The vibrant hues result from carotenoid pigments and signify the degradation of chlorophyll, indicating that the plant is approaching its peak potency and optimal harvest time. However, it's important to monitor trichomes along with pistils for the best results. Proper cultivation techniques, including lighting, temperature control, and nutrient balance, ensure healthy pistil development and top-quality harvests. #CannabisCultivation #OrangeHairs #CannabisMaturity #HarvestTime #CannabisKnowledge #CannabisGrowers #WeedWisdom #PlantScience

// 7 DAYS OF SOLVENTLESS FOR 7/10 \\ Day two: ice water hash. What’s cooler than being cool? Being *ice cold* like the process of making ice water hash. Ice water hash is when whole plant fresh frozen flower material is “washed” using ice to agitate the plant’s precious trichomes. The material is then processed through just the right-sized micron filter bags to collect the different-sized trichome heads, which contain the plant’s cannabinoids and terpenes. The result is the most natural expression of the plant. What strain produces your favorite ice water hash? Share in the comments below! ⬇️ #solventless #cannabisindustry #cannabis #california

❄ Storing Cannabis in the Freezer ❄ Over the last few weeks, I tried a friend's method of storing cannabis flower (in jars, in the freezer), and here are my insights: 1. It enhanced the perceived aroma, particularly in strength, and seemed to bring out lighter, more volatile notes. I theorize that less is lost due to the colder temperatures, and the perceived aroma is stronger because of the rapid temperature change from sub-zero to room temperature, which might probably causes faster evaporation. 2. The moisture of the flower didn’t seem to increase (not measured), which makes sense given that it was stored in tightly sealed containers. 3. The grinding, smoke quality, and burn were lower than usual (under standard storage conditions). Again, this is just one person's opinion, with no data to back it up. However, it seemed that the fast temperature increase caused the flower to "sweat" within minutes of being removed from the freezer, making grinding and smoking less enjoyable. For now, I don’t have any measurements, but I plan to focus on collecting data (moisture content, water activity, and more) on various methods of drying, curing, and storing cannabis in the future. Let me know what you think! Have you ever tried this? Follow Sven Rachinger for more! - - #Cannabis #CannabisResearch #Hemp #Horticulture #Flavonoids #Terpenes #Cannabinoids #Education
