LinkedIn tends to be a pretty gentle and sanitised place where we use nice words, even when the world is burning. Truly, fuck that. Violence against womxn and children should make everyone angry enough to use angry fucking words. Enough empty, gentle words, enough placating. Enough death. Prevention isn’t as hard as our leaders pretend it to be, nor should there be a higher priority. While womxn and children everywhere suffer, and pencil pushers ponder sweet advocacy campaigns from ivory towers, perhaps should angrily take to the streets, withdraw all unpaid womxn’s labour and watch this whole neoliberal, capitalist hellhole crumble?? Maybe then law makers would pay attention and begin to take seriously the fact that our lives matter. Until leaders take notice, it’s up to us. If you think family violence isn’t happening to your friends and family, you’re wrong. Ask questions. Take notice. Act in any way you’re safe and able to.
We can and must end this national crisis together. https://bit.ly/3LeYTcQ [Alt: White and green text on a navy background: The death of women and children in family violence is preventable. There is an opportunity for all of us to reach out and start a conversation if we see or hear things that don’t feel right in relationships and families.]
