Working women, especially our leaders, are feeling lonely - and we must do a better job of listening to what they need. Despite women occupying a record number of leadership positions in business, we are still far from total parity - and these women feel incredibly alone, leading to career and personal dissatisfaction. While men become less lonely as they advance in their careers, women become lonelier and MORE isolated. We must rethink the way we support women in the workplace and the advancement of their careers, because it's clear that what has traditionally worked for men isn't working for women. That's what we're doing here at C200. Our sisterhood of businesswomen connect with one another and build networks on THEIR terms. Through our events, educational programming, and Advancing Women Programs, we provide the space for women in business to find and create what they need to advance, succeed, and thrive - both professionally and personally. Altogether, C200's beautiful community has been growing and thriving for over 40 years, transforming what it means to lead in the business world. This holiday season of giving, help us change the face of business, one woman at a time, with a donation to our organization and cause. With your financial support, we can continue to provide the priceless experiences that have shaped our membership and wider community for decades. The Vital Contribution of Black and Brown Women in 2024 Let’s talk about strong brown women and their incredible contributions in 2024. These women, moving forward and uplifting others, play a crucial role in shaping society. Whether in corporations or small businesses, their leadership is undeniable. Let’s highlight the CEOs and leaders who are making a difference in global companies and within local communities. Take, for example, Rosalind Brewer, the CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, and Lisa Su, the CEO of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), both powerful brown women leading globally recognized companies. Women like these, who break barriers and reach the top of the corporate ladder, exemplify resilience, vision, and empowerment. But it’s not just about corporate leadership. There are numerous foundations dedicated to helping women grow their businesses. The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) provides women entrepreneurs with the resources they need to thrive in international markets. Organizations like this are crucial in supporting the rise of women-owned businesses, allowing women of color to flourish in industries worldwide. It is this truth—the recognition of Black and brown women—that brings us forward in our society today. These women are not only leaders but also vital contributors who add vitality to our organizations and light to the communities they serve. Moreover, many Black and brown women are at the forefront of distributing vital federal funding through nonprofits and state-local companies. Over 70% of state and local organizations access federal funding regularly, with nonprofits disseminating this money into local communities. A significant portion of this funding goes to Black and brown women-led organizations, ensuring that income flows back into these communities. This circle of income, supported by strong women, strengthens the fabric of our society, and demonstrates the importance of empowering women at all levels. Let’s continue to recognize and elevate the contributions of Black and brown women—they are building the foundation for a brighter future, both locally and globally. — Dr. Bryan K. If your company doesn’t have enough women in leadership, you’re leaving money, innovation, and talent on the table! This isn’t about ticking diversity boxes or looking good for PR. Women in leadership aren’t a charity project—they’re a business strategy. 📈 Higher profits 💡 More innovation 📊 Stronger market performance And yet, most organizations still treat empowering women as optional. It’s not. If you want to survive and thrive in today’s market, stop clinging to outdated power structures. The numbers don’t lie. One of my favorite ways to Donate my time to the industry is through workshops empowering women. Over the past 6 months, I’ve had the honor of speaking to several incredible groups of women about achieving #WorkLifeHarmony. It's a topic I'm deeply passionate about, and I'm grateful for every opportunity to share insights and empower others. Each year, I donate a portion of my time to select organizations, offering this workshop as a way to continue lifting women in our industry. It's my way of contributing to a broader movement of support and empowerment, because I firmly believe in the importance of lifting other women as we climb so we can continue pushing our industry in the right direction. Highlights from these sessions include: 🚀 Exploring the power of setting intentional goals to drive our actions and priorities. ⏰ Mastering time management techniques tailored to our unique lifestyles and commitments. 🤝 Cultivating a culture of accountability and support within our networks. 🔍 Embracing the transformative practice of reflection to fine-tune our approach and stay aligned with our values. The real magic happens during our breakout sessions and group sharing. Witnessing these incredible women over the past several months openly declare their aspirations and commit to their growth is nothing short of inspiring. Finding work/life harmony isn't about achieving perfection. It’s about making small, thoughtful adjustments and course corrections along the way. It’s about embracing and celebrating your progress because it’s a constant journey. Who’s with me? 🙌🏻 #worklifeharmony #empoweringothers #embracethejourney

Friday Food for Thought 💭 For underrepresented individuals, the pressure to succeed often comes with an added burden: the fear of confirming negative stereotypes about their group. This is called stereotype threat, and it can create a disproportionate strain on those who are "the only one in the room." The result? If you are a woman in business and will be in the Columbus, Ohio area THIS Friday, come check out *Learn. Connect. Support. (LCS)! Plan to arrive at Olentangy River Brewing Company a little before 8:30 to get your morning drink/treat. We typically meet in the back room. Warning: Side effects of this meeting include feeling less isolated in your business, feeling more empowered, and generally just leaving in a good mood. Reach out with questions or for more info. * What is LCS? It is a professional development group for women in business, women entrepreneurs, women involved with non-profits. We get together and share wins and challenges. You will make connections and should bring business cards if you have them, BUT this group is really about supporting each other. (Think more "how can I help you" rather than "what can you do for me?") 😉 #womeninbusiness #womensupportingwomen

Have you heard of the “glass escalator?” It’s a term for men having an easier ride than women to the top of female-dominated fields, such as the non-profit sector — where 85 percent of support staff are women, but far fewer are executives. At ROOM, we’re calling for change. It’s time to stop the glass escalator. Together, we can help level the field and saturate the C-suite of large non-profits with more women leaders. One powerful way is to ensure organizations have boards with at least one-third female members because they’re most likely to hire women CEOs. Plus, diverse boards are great for the bottom line. 🎉 It’s Giving Tuesday! Join Me in Empowering Women Everywhere 🌟 Today, I reflect on an incredible journey—one that began as a member of Women on the Rise International, Inc. I and has led me to serve as the Vice Chair of the Board. This journey is more than a title; it’s a testament to the transformative power of Women on the Rise and its unwavering commitment to helping women reach their full potential. This organization’s mission is deeply personal to me because it aligns with the work I do every day as a mental health therapist and advocate for Black female entrepreneurs. Through its four powerful pillars—financial literacy, career development, entrepreneurship, and personal wellness—Women on the Rise doesn’t just uplift women. It strengthens families and transforms entire communities. 💪🏾✨ I’ve experienced firsthand how these resources create lasting change. I’ve seen women take control of their finances, build meaningful careers, launch thriving businesses, and prioritize their mental and physical wellness—all while becoming leaders in their own homes and neighborhoods. Women on the Rise empowers women to not only succeed but to thrive. And today, I invite you to join this movement. Your support makes it possible for more women to access the resources and community they need to rewrite their stories of success. Whether it’s $5, $50, or $500, every donation helps us expand our reach and impact. Together, we can continue to build a world where every woman has the tools to rise.
