We're incredibly proud to be partnered with Nexus and the DSA Helpline to support older victim-survivors in Northern Ireland. With over 100,000 older people in Northern Ireland experiencing abuse, we're glad to have developed this important partnership to tackle this abuse. Veronica Gray, Deputy CEO of Hourglass said: "Our own research tells us that the abuse and neglect of older people is on the rise. Without specialist services, older people will continue to suffer in silence, hence this unique partnership with the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Helpline." Why don't human trafficking victims always seek help? Victims often don't seek help due to manipulation by traffickers, including psychological coercion, threats, and isolation. These tactics create intense fear and dependency, making escape seem impossible or more dangerous than staying. Understanding these dynamics is crucial in supporting those in need. #HumanTraffickingAwareness #TechThatProtects #HumanTraffickingPrevention #Nonprofit #Charity #ItEndsHere #Trafficking #HumanTrafficking

NPCC and College of Policing have said, "violence against women and girls had reached 'epidemic' levels." Their report estimated that one in 20 adults - or 2.3 million people - were perpetrators of violence against women and girls every year in the UK. "Nobody in industry and in other sectors and across the public understands just the scale and impact of these crimes." ____ Let that sink in.... That's why we are committed to our campaign Home is Where the Harm is! So far we've raised with the National Benevolent Charity over £19,000, that is already with Women and Children looking to escape and rebuild lives after suffering from domestic abuse. The money goes from donation to local cashpoints for victims to claim. That's a UK-wide first for supporting victims! This also can be with them within hours of the NBC becoming aware of the situation. We've now seen 96 victims supported in under a month. The challenge is that the donations have already run dry, so we're calling on companies and those in charge of budgets to help make donations to our cause, like British Airways has already. We us these donations to double the pledges made by the public. So that charities like NBC can help people quickly and try to make a positive dent in these horror statistics. Here's Ali Russell to introduce why this is so important. #Charity #DomesticAbuse #Women #Children

No child should have to flee their home to escape family violence, but there was no other option for five-year-old Adam and his little brother Zayne. When the violence went from bad to worse, their mum knew that the only way for them to be safe was to leave. But escaping their violent home was just the beginning of the story. The consequences of exposure to family violence can have a lasting impact on the development and wellbeing of children. WAGEC’s Helping Children Heal program seeks to mitigate the harm caused by family violence by meeting the developmental, emotional and social needs of children in refuge and outreach. Adam and Zayne’s story is not an uncommon, but it's one with an ending you have the power to change if you act now. Demand for WAGEC’s services is growing, and we have no choice but to turn some people away. With your support, WAGEC can continue to help children like them heal and recover from family violence. Donate now to build a brighter future for children like Adam and Zayne. Donate here: bit.ly/3Rf5dVc

The Make a Change program in Newcastle offers support to individuals worried about their behavior towards partners, aiming to prevent domestic abuse. Led by local charities Harbour and Changing Lives, the program targets perpetrators or potential perpetrators, offering a 26-week group session to understand and change harmful behavior. As a charity organisation dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse, we wholeheartedly support the Make a Change programme recently launched in Newcastle. This initiative represents a crucial step forward in addressing the root causes of domestic abuse and preventing its devastating consequences. For too long, the focus has primarily been on supporting survivors, which is undeniably important. However, to truly make a lasting impact and break the cycle of abuse, it's important to address the behaviors of perpetrators as well. The Make a Change programme provides an opportunity for individuals who recognise harmful patterns in their behavior to seek help and make positive changes before it's too late.
