My recent projects have been centered around IaC, streaming data ingestion, and Google Cloud. A few weeks ago I completed a program that generates synthetic streaming data, simulating the movement of vehicles through tollways across the United States. The program scrapes tollway information from Wikipedia and merges it with vehicle data from Faker, creating realistic event messages. It includes functionality for generating late and duplicate events, in an effort to reflect real-world challenges. A straightforward Terraform script creates a Pub/Sub topic to which the messages can then be published to. As for next steps, I'm planning to use Cloud Functions and Cloud Run to process and route these messages from Pub/Sub to BigQuery and Memorystore (Redis). Here's a screenshot showing a few messages residing in Pub/Sub.
