🔍 Day 3 of my 30-Day Kubernetes Learning Challenge: Understanding Pods. Today, we dive into one of the fundamental concepts of Kubernetes: Pods. Pods are the smallest and simplest Kubernetes objects, representing a single instance of a running process in your cluster. Understanding Pods is crucial for effectively managing and orchestrating containers in Kubernetes. This article breaks down the basics of Pods, their lifecycle, and how they interact with other Kubernetes components, setting the stage for more advanced topics we'll cover in the coming days. Explore the core unit of Kubernetes: Day 3: Understanding Pods Engage with today’s content by: Learning what Pods are and why they are essential in Kubernetes. Exploring the lifecycle of a Pod and how to manage Pods in your cluster. Sharing your insights, questions, or experiences with Pods in the comments. Inviting others to join this learning journey by sharing this post and tagging #Kubernetes, #Cloud, #Sysadmin, and #SRE. Understanding Pods is key to mastering Kubernetes. Day 53 of #120DaysOfDevOps: Mastering Kubernetes Fundamentals ☸️ Today, I delved into the importance of mastering Kubernetes fundamentals. Kubernetes can seem complex, but a strong foundation makes it manageable. Unlike other tools, understanding each component is crucial for proficiency. Kubernetes serves as the core, the operating system of the cloud. Here’s my approach to mastering it: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗵𝘆: Understand the purpose and benefits of using Kubernetes. 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Learn about the architecture, including the master and worker nodes, and their roles. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝟴𝘀: Get familiar with core objects like Pods, Services, Deployments, and ConfigMaps. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸?: Study the inner workings of Kubernetes, including how it manages containerized applications. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀: Regularly use Kubectl commands to interact with the cluster. 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Develop troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve common issues. The intricate processes occurring behind the scenes are absolutely fascinating and incredible. Building a solid foundation in Kubernetes fundamentals is key to mastering this powerful tool. #Kubernetes #DevOps #LearningInProgress #CloudComputing #HandsOnExperience #120DaysOfDevOps #K8s #BuildInPublic #LearnInPublic

In our recent webinar, "Overcoming Obstacles to Continuous Improvement in Your Organization," Excella's Meredith Jones and Jeff Gallimore sat down with Google Cloud's Nathen Harvey to discuss DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA), examples of success and common obstacles to implementing it. DORA, at it's essence is about getting better at getting better. It isn't about "doing DORA" according to Nathen Harvey, it's about improving against your own metrics and creating an environment ripe for improvement.
