"The standout statistic? The IBM Power E1080 demonstrated up to 4.22 times faster per-core performance than an Intel Xeon Gold 6348 server in the OLTP 90:10 benchmark. This isn’t just a marginal improvement – it’s a quantum leap in processing capability. But that’s not all. Here are some other impressive figures: Read-only Point Select Performance: Up to 3.64 times faster per core TPCC-like Performance: Up to 1.59 times faster per core Scalability: Over 1.1 million queries per second on just 8 cores These numbers translate to real-world benefits: faster transaction processing, improved response times, and the ability to handle larger workload" Paul Chapman #ibmpower #linuxonpower #mariadb https://lnkd.in/dBCVyA3D

IBM has announced IBM Storage Ceph 7.1 GA, with new features and functionalities. The main significant highlights of this 7.1 release are: · Fully supported unified storage release IBM Storage Ceph 7.1 supports File, Block and Object storage. This enables IBM clients for new use cases, supported by IBM. · Fast network-based Block storage for VMware NVMe/TCP to access Ceph RBD block storage for non-Linux clients. With native RBD performance, reliable and proven technology for over a decade. · NFS access to CephFS volumes and subvolumes Export CephFS volumes via NFS v4.1 or v3 For servers and applications which cannot natively access CephFS in the way a native Linux kernel driver does. · RADOS Gateway (RGW) updated features Archive Zone - general availability Bucket granular sync replication and other functional enhancements · New dashboard user interface management capabilities Significant UX improvements for more ease of use. In example, snapshot management, log filtering and viewing. Ability to upgrade IBM Storage Ceph clusters via the UI dashboard. #ceph #ibmstorage

Hyperscale NAS is the solution displacing scale-out NAS in enterprises with significant compute demands. This news validates how Enterprise architectures are being built for GPU/high-performance computing. https://lnkd.in/grZ3tmam While Dell Technologies' Varun Chhabra hasn't shared how they will add parallelism, it is clear that enterprises need standard NFS connectivity coupled with parallel file system performance. Hammerspace is leading the pack in the vision for data and storage architectures for Enterprise computing. Client servers are standard Linux, the parallel file system client is built in to Linux, and the performance of a parallel file system (such us Lustre) are achieved! Couple that with integrated data orchestration to GPUs and you get the best of all worlds! As always, insightful coverage from Chris Mellor in Blocks and Files. https://lnkd.in/g_qphMb8 #hyperscale #nas #GPU #HPC

There are so many reasons to upgrade to the latest Gen of ATTO's ExpressSAS 24Gb SAS HBAs. Firstly, 24Gb SAS PCIe cards deliver a significant jump in data transfer rates, while minimizing latency, leading to dramatically increased performance. This all translates to reduced processing time for critical workloads and increased efficiency across the board. Secondly, because the new line of our SAS HBAs utilizes the next generation chip technology, you can significantly boost even your current system that uses existing 12Gb HDDs and SSDs devices - sometimes up to 30%. And thirdly, your data center will be fully future-proofed for the latest evolving drive technology to support your storage needs and future upgrades.
