Isn’t it ironic? Few days back Salesforce announced it’s hiring 1,000 new salespeople to push its latest AI product, Agentforce—a tool designed to automate customer support and sales without the need for human oversight. While this expansion shows their commitment to growing the AI agent space, it raises an uncomfortable question: what happens when Agentforce can fully “sell itself”? Hiring teams to drive adoption of an AI that, in theory, could one day replace those very roles feels like a double-edged sword. As companies increasingly lean on AI to scale, we need to ask how sustainable these human jobs are and what the roadmap for employment looks like once the tools can stand on their own. Will these new hires eventually be on the chopping block, replaced by the very technology they’re hired to promote? Depending on who you ask, coding with AI support can either help significantly accelerate simple tasks and allow smaller teams to handle software development - or lead to unexpected, unknown errors and never-ending quality assurance testing and fixing.
