We welcome the commitment made today at the National Construction Industry Forum #NCIF to work together on creating real, long-term change by developing a Building and Construction Industry Blueprint within the next six months. ACA has played a vital role in shaping this initiative, viewing the current situation as an opportunity to build a stronger industry that benefits everyone rather than a crisis. Attending today's NCIF meeting, our CEO Jon Davies said, “We’re committed to working together to create a sustainable construction industry that welcomes all and is fair for all. “We have to act fast. The opportunity is right in front of us, and we need to move quickly to get this blueprint off the ground.” The NCIF’s work won’t overlap with other initiatives but it will build on progress already made through efforts like the National Construction Strategy, the Construction Industry Culture Taskforce and the Construction Industry Leadership Forum. Together, these efforts aim to deliver real, measurable outcomes that will benefit the whole industry. We are ready to get to work and make sure we don’t miss this chance to create a stronger, more sustainable future for the construction industry.

Our recent Multi-Agency Tactical Command Course (accredited through Skills for Justice), for the West Midlands Local Resilience Forum (under the watchful eyes of both Steve Vincent & Luke Martin) highlighted once again, the importance of feedback in enhancing training effectiveness. Gathering feedback is a critical aspect of the training process, as it provides our instructors with insights into the relevance and impact of the course material and their delivery methods. Participants’ feedback from this last course underscored the value of our training, with one attendee describing it as a “fantastic opportunity to learn, develop relationships and grow during peace time.” Another emphasised the practical application of knowledge, noting, “The course is valuable for any partner agencies to work collaboratively enhancing knowledge, experience and understanding of tactical decision making at significant incidents.” Such testimonials confirm that the course met its objectives of preparing officials to handle complex multi-agency situations collaboratively and with a deeper understanding. Our feedback genuinely drives continuous improvement. For instance, knowing that both trainers were “excellent and knowledgeable,” as per Nick Platidis from Dudley Council, reassures us of the quality of instruction while encouraging maintenance and elevation of these standards. Incorporating this feedback ensures that future sessions remain responsive to the needs of professionals on the ground, ultimately enhancing their preparedness and response capabilities. This approach not only affirms the quality of our training offer but also aligns course development with the evolving demands of crisis management and emergency response. #EmergencyPreparedness #TacticalTraining #ResilienceForum

With 30 years of experience in managing complex construction projects across various sectors, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of “CULTIVATING A SAFETY-FIRST CULTURE” on construction sites. Ensuring the well-being of our workforce is non-negotiable. Challenges & Solutions: 1. Inconsistent Safety Practices: - Problem: Variations in safety protocols across different sites lead to inconsistent enforcement. - Solution: Establish a unified safety framework across all projects, incorporating regular safety audits and clear accountability at every level. 2. Lack of Engagement: - Problem: Workers often feel disconnected from safety policies. - Solution: Foster engagement through ongoing training, open communication, and recognizing those who uphold safety standards. 3. Pressure to Meet Deadlines: - Problem: Tight schedules sometimes lead to shortcuts in safety practices. - Solution: Build realistic timelines that prioritize safety over speed and empower teams to pause work when hazards arise. By embedding safety into the core values of a construction company, we can ensure that every project is delivered not just efficiently, but safely. #ConstructionSafety #SafetyFirst #Leadership #BuildingCulture #ConstructionLeadership #CEOInsights #SafetyMatters #WorkplaceSafety #ProjectManagement
