Many thanks to Employee Benefit News for the interview on #psychologicalsafety. I had a lot to say,--maybe some you could use. "If team members fear reprisals, they hesitate to speak up and voice concerns when there is an issue. As a result the issue goes unaddressed or the inefficient practices persist, and time and resources continue to go wasted. This can yield significant implications for overall performance." Data suggests that cost could be up to $15 million a year. https://lnkd.in/ghC-vQ6A Lucid Software #lucidluminaries

Poor psychological safety is costing companies millions of dollars, and for the most part, employers don’t know something’s wrong until it’s too late. I recently spoke to an exec from Lucid Software about strategies organizations can use when trying to improve their culture — and the consequences when they wait too long. Forget psychological safety In today's fast-paced world, the importance of psychological safety at work cannot be overstated. Numerous companies proclaim their commitment to fostering a supportive and safe environment. But how genuine are these claims? When the driving forces behind business decisions remain tethered to performance metrics, bonus agreements, and profits, the conversation around psychological safety risks becoming merely superficial. It prompts a critical question: Are these commitments to psychological safety authentic, or are they just lip service? As we navigate the complexities of workplace culture, it's crucial to reflect on the nature of our work environments. What kind of company are you a part of? Are you helping to build a truly supportive space, or is the concept of psychological safety just an "empty shell" within your organization? Let's start a conversation about genuine psychological safety and how we can collectively make it a foundational aspect of our work lives. #HumanBusiness #drthomasjuli #BeingHuman #psychologicalsafety #WorkplaceCulture Human Business Labs GmbH

The Importance of Psychological Safety. There is much debate and discussion about #leadership styles, in particular, the styles recognized as the most important factor in determining #workforce productivity and in establishing an organizational environment. World events and disruption have sparked rapid, large-scale changes in #humanbehavior. And organizations need to adapt to meet people’s needs in new ways. Toxic #workplaceculture costs businesses billions in employee turnover: $223 billion over the last five years. Some of those turnover costs can be broken down into employee overtime to fill in the gaps, costs for temporary #employees, recruiting costs, hiring manager time, recruiter time, and advertising costs Research by Deloitte has shown that 94% of executives and 88% of employees believe a distinct corporate culture is important to a business’ success. Deloitte’s survey also found that 76% of these employees believed that a “clearly defined business strategy” helped create a positive culture. A positive culture in the workplace is essential for fostering a sense of pride and ownership amongst the employees. When people take pride, they invest their future in the organization and work hard to create opportunities that will benefit the organization. The challenge now is to build on that momentum and keep adapting and innovating. Human-centered design is a powerful way to understand evolving behaviors, preferences, and pain points and to focus efforts in the right places in the right ways. By unlocking the user’s perspective, designers can build solutions that work well and work widely in our new reality whatever that ultimately looks like. https://lnkd.in/e4z2KrqF

Did You Know? 🤔? One of the biggest misconceptions about psychological safety in the workplace is that it means creating a "soft" environment where employees are never challenged or held accountable. This couldn't be further from the truth! Reality Check: Psychological safety is about fostering an environment where employees feel safe to take risks, voice their ideas, and admit mistakes without fear of ridicule or punishment. This doesn't mean avoiding tough conversations or lowering performance standards. In fact, a psychologically safe workplace encourages: Open Dialogue: Employees feel confident to share innovative ideas and feedback, leading to better problem-solving and creativity. Accountability: Mistakes are seen as learning opportunities, promoting continuous improvement and growth. High Standards: Team members are motivated to perform at their best, knowing they have the support to succeed and the freedom to fail forward. At Cerebra, we are committed to debunking myths and educating organisations on the true benefits of psychological safety. Our evidence-based approach helps create high-performing teams that thrive on trust and mutual respect. What are your thoughts on psychological safety in the workplace? Resiliency should be a part of workplace training. As a follow up to my "super sensitive employee syndrome" post from yesterday, I think part of the issue with these super sensitive employees is that people do not know that they can and should be able withstand or recover quickly from (perceived) challenges or adversities in the workplace. Employees should understand that if they are doing something wrong (not every little thing, but something noteworthy) or if there are ways that they can improve, it is OK to hear that and in fact they should want to know about it and not be so personally hurt/affected by it. A challenge or adversity is all relative, but being resilient is a good quality to find in employees or potentially to finetune in employees. What do you think? #employmentlaw #employeetraining #resilience #TheWorkplaceLawfirm
