Nigerian gas that has hitherto been flared shall be used to gasify West Africa and even potentially bring some to Europe. Sounds great. What's not to love? Looking at the troubled history of the West African Gas Pipeline from Nigeria to Ghana, I don't have a good feeling. This is supposed to be a very, very long gas line. The longest undersea gas pipeline by any standard and by a very large margin. Gas pipelines are not free and compressors for thousands of miles of pipe will need to be substantial. LNG may be the cheaper option. Also, it's supposed to be operational in 2046. Thats a long time in the future. Many of us won't be around or too old to care when that is supposed to happen. I don’t like lies. New LNG permits applications aren’t the problem. We export far more under Biden than Trump. Huge new facilities under construction. 10 bcf/d that is permitted but can’t be built because the economics don’t support construction. Nat Gas at $1.70 this morning. Maybe a buck at Marcellus hub. The real problem is nat gas executives have flooded the market with product to the point commodity pricing have tanked. By the way, European storage is almost full as is US storage. Could be a dangerous time for natural gas companies. So they try to throw shade on Biden’s administration. Tired of it. 5 bcf/d under Trump. Maybe 37/bcf/d under Biden if the permitted facilities get built. Thank you President Biden. Hunker down nat gas companies. Hunker down.
