Brooks Hamilton’s Post

This is a great look at two really unique and positive aspects of this wave of AI particularly fascinating. Runway, an AI imagine generation focused company, created a new type of tool for artists. They can take two images, place each on a canvas and then generate new images. The line of newly created images, stretched between the two original images, becomes a sort of 'slider bar'. This is cool because: 1. The method helps to familiarize people with the idea of 'embedding space', one of the two main breakthroughs. The 'physical' distance between two items represents how different those objects are from one another. To put it in terms of color, red and magenta are close together on a color wheel whereas lime green is far away from both. 2. This is a new tool for interacting with concepts. For the tool that Runway created, the new tool is exploring the embedding (concept) space of visual art. Artists can now look into the conceptual nooks and crannies between two pieces of visual art. They may find themselves inspired by combinations and proportions they had not previously encountered. I'm looking forward to the time when similar tools are used to explore other concept spaces such as new product introductions for specific market micro-segments or finding acceptable outcomes during major negotiations.
