Whenever I used to watch Mission Impossible it got me thinking about those scenes where they're making split-second decisions based on a ton of data? Like, remember when Ethan's hanging off the side of that skyscraper and his team's feeding him all this info? I always wondered how they pulled that off. Well, turns out it's not just movie magic. It's actually possible with some pretty cool tech called real-time analytics. And get this StarTree has set up this awesome challenge,"Mission Impossible: Data Reckoning" (clever, right?) where you can try it out yourself! Re:Invent 2024 was an absolute blast! 🎉 From meeting incredible people (shoutout to all the inspiring minds I had the pleasure of chatting with 🙌), to catching up with my amazing team, to geeking out over AWS’s latest and greatest—this week was a whirlwind of ideas, energy, and unforgettable moments in Vegas. 🎲✨ The Data & Database announcements this year? Absolute bangers🔥 Seriously, I’m still reeling from some of the jaw-dropping new features. (Aurora DSQL, anyone? I’m itching to dive in and break things—I mean, test things. 😏) For now, I’m taking a few days to let everything soak in (and maybe catch up on sleep? 😅), but stay tuned. This is such a lekker post to make. Today's milestones are: * We just managed to oauth with our token to Azure/AD to authenticate our users when using the BrightSpark CLI for running jobs and their #jupyter notebooks. Alex Morton you are, without doubt, a hero, an officer, and a gentleman. * Wilhelm Raymond de Lange just updated our Grafana dashboard showing the runtimes and costs of BrightSpark when compared with the same job running #AWS Glue. Not even in the same ballpark! Awesomeness dude. * I'm running a variety of jobs on BrightSpark with a simple Create, RunJob CLI Alex has built. I love it. So, so easy. * When Stephen returns from running all over China, we'll be cooking with gas! I'll be posting graphs of our workloads in the next few days. Don't want to show everyone prematurely.
