Life is all about being grateful for what you have now Be Grateful for What You Have, Not Just What You Want We often get caught up in complaining about what we don't have, ignoring everything that's already in our hands. But the reality is, Gratitude isn’t about giving up on your goals, it’s about appreciating what you have while working for what you want. → Ate food today? Be thankful - someone else didn't. → Slept well? Be thankful - someone else doesn't have a roof. → Got a loving partner or family? Be thankful - someone out there is craving for love. → Have a job, no matter the pay? Be thankful - someone else is still struggling to get hired. Stop asking "Why don’t I have what they have?" Focus on your own journey. What’s meant for you will come - just be patient. Even that glass of water you're drinking is a blessing, so appreciate it, That’s all I had to say. “You should be thankful for what you have.” “You should be okay with where you are.” I’ve heard these phrases time and time again. Whether it’s from friends or family, I’ve heard it from them. These responses made me doubt myself Is it me? Should I be more grateful? Do I expect too much? But I learned over time that those responses were short-sighted. They were typical responses from those who may not understand you. And the truth that I later found out is, Being happy with what you have, shouldn’t stop you from going after what you want. Think about this: You’re happy in your current role. You appreciate your team. And you enjoy the work you do. But deep inside, you know there’s more. You want to have more responsibility. You want to impact more people. You want to grow to your potential. It’s a feeling of tension and friction, pulling you in opposite directions. But the truth is, the feeling can work in the same direction. Being grateful fuels the journey to unlocking your potential. You can be happy and want more: it’s not a binary decision. Don’t let others make you feel guilty for wanting more. Embrace the duality of being happy and being driven. Gratitude has been a game-changer in my life, influencing both my personal and professional success. This Thanksgiving weekend, I’ve been reflecting on the power of gratitude—in life and in work. Gratitude shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s already here, fueling personal growth and professional success. What are you thankful for this year? I’m thankful for these 5 areas: 1. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵: As the saying goes, "Someone with their health has many dreams. Someone without it has just one dream". I'm grateful for my health, but I can't take it for granted. Planning to make some progress here in 2025. 2. 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆: Life is better together. Two of the biggest regrets that I've heard from elderly people are (a) playing their career/life too safe and (b) not having more kids. I intend to avoid both of these regrets. 3. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸: It's important to find meaningful, fulfilling work. Nobody that lays on the beach all day is truly fulfilled. "Too much free time" does exist. (If you don't enjoy your career or work, check out The Career Compass). 4. 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: This year I've discovered the power of the internet. Sounds weird, but it's true. The best part: Having online connections become real life relationships. Looking forward to doubling down in 2025. Stay tuned... 5. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: High-quality friends are the most difficult to come by because they're busy pursuing the 4 areas listed above. Translation: Great relationships take work, but they're worth it. Make sure it's the right one. If you've read my posts since two days ago, you've probably noticed my catchphrase: 'be grateful, do the thing, have a good purpose'. I want to make a little change to the second phrase: 'do the thing'. I don't want people to misunderstand my message. By 'thing', I don't mean just anything. Just because you're getting something done, doesn't mean you're doing what should be done. So, I'm changing it to 'do the right thing'. I don't want to just get things done. I want to get the right things done. Be grateful. Do the right thing. Have a good purpose. That is my core value. · Are you getting the right things done? Do you even know if those are the right ones?
